General Production Worker - 3rd Shift Job Description This role works on a fast-paced production line, assembling materials, operating machines, and performing quality inspections before products are packaged and shipped. You will rotate through various stations, including assembly, machine operation, and visual inspection, contributing directly to a new production ramp-up. The position requires consistent, reliable performance, attention to detail, and the physical ability to lift and handle components throughout the shift. Responsibilities Work on the production line assembling materials and components according to established procedures and quality standards. Operate production and assembly machines safely and efficiently, following all work instructions. Lift completed parts off the line, perform a visual inspection, and place them into boxes for shipment. Inspect parts for defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, and other imperfections before packaging. Rotate through different positions on the line based on team needs and individual strengths. Handle and lift components, including car hoods made of plastic and foam, and position them at the workstation. Maintain a steady workflow to support production targets and launch schedules, including overtime as needed. Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to plant safety rules. Keep the work area organized and support cleanliness improvements as the facility is renovated. Demonstrate reliability and longevity in the role by maintaining strong attendance and consistent performance. Essential Skills At least 6 months of recent manufacturing experience in a production, operator, assembler, or warehouse role within the last 6 months. Proven ability to perform general production, assembly, and general labor tasks in a manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly, including lifting and positioning plastic and foam car hoods at the workstation. Hands-on visual inspection experience, including identifying defects such as scratches, paint marks, dents, or other quality issues on parts. Demonstrated job stability, with 8 months or longer at each of the past three jobs. Comfort working on a production line with rotating tasks and varying responsibilities. Basic understanding of quality inspection practices in a manufacturing setting. Ability to work 3rd shift (10:30 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) and overtime, including potential weekend work during launch periods. Willingness to complete required drug testing and related waivers. Additional Skills & Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and interest in working with mechanical components. Experience operating production or assembly machinery. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work instructions. Work Environment This is a 3rd shift role, working 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday, with current Friday work and additional overtime that may include weekends during busy launch periods. The facility is in the process of being upgraded; while the environment is not yet fully clean, the building is undergoing improvements and will become progressively cleaner and more modern. You work as part of a small team of about six people, collaborating closely on a shared production line. The role involves standing for most of the shift, frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds, and handling plastic and foam automotive components. Standard attire includes work pants, a work shirt, and closed-toe shoes, with safety glasses and a face mask provided or required as part of personal protective equipment.
