Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role supports the cabinets department by building the internal structures of large signs and assisting with general warehouse and production tasks. You will work with hand and power tools, perform assembly and palletizing, and help prepare products for shipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position follows a daytime schedule with opportunities for overtime and requires someone who is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and comfortable with medium to heavy lifting. Responsibilities Build and assemble the internal components of signs within the cabinets department using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices. Operate hand power tools such as drills and nail guns safely and efficiently to complete assembly tasks. Use a tape measure accurately to ensure components are cut, aligned, and assembled to specification. Perform medium to heavy lifting, regularly handling items in the 20 to 40 pound range as part of daily production and material handling. Assemble and palletize finished products and components for shipment, ensuring items are securely packaged and labeled. Pull, pack, and load materials and products for shipping and receiving activities within the warehouse. Work independently to complete assigned tasks while also collaborating effectively with team members across manufacturing, assembly, and shipping areas. Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate workflow, report issues, and maintain production quality and safety. Follow detailed instructions and maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all assembly and production work. Stand for extended periods on concrete floors while performing repetitive assembly and production tasks. Adhere to all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. Maintain a clean and organized work area within the warehouse, supporting overall facility cleanliness and efficiency. Essential Skills At least 1 year of machine operator experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically involving assembly work. Demonstrated ability to perform assembly tasks using manufacturing equipment and tools. Proficiency using a tape measure accurately for measuring and marking materials. Experience using a power drill and other basic hand power tools in a production or warehouse setting. Ability to safely lift and carry 20 to 40 pounds on a regular basis. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools, drills, and related equipment. Ability to use a nail gun safely and effectively. Capability to operate hand power tools for cutting, fastening, and assembling components. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing tasks with minimal supervision. Detail-oriented approach to work, ensuring accuracy and quality in assembly and packaging tasks. Comfort standing on concrete floors for extended periods while performing assembly and production work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in general labor, warehouse operations, or similar production roles. Experience with assembling and palletizing shipments in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Comfort working in different functional areas such as manufacturing, shipping/receiving, assembly, or testing as business needs require. Willingness to work Monday through Friday with a standard shift of 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility to work until 5:00 p.m. on some days. Availability to work Saturdays as needed, particularly toward the end of the year. Work Environment This role is based in a large, clean warehouse facility that is organized into manufacturing, shipping and receiving, assembly, and testing areas. You may work in any of these areas depending on production needs, handling large signs and parts that are in various stages of development or ready for shipment. The environment is not temperature controlled, so it tends to be cooler during the winter and hotter during the summer. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some days extending to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday work may be required toward the end of the year. You will spend most of the day on your feet, standing and walking on concrete floors while performing assembly and production tasks. The dress code is casual, allowing jeans and an appropriate T-shirt, combined with required safety gear. Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are provided, and steel-toed boots are required to ensure safe operation around tools, equipment, and materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
