This role is responsible for operating a SABER hydraulic guillotine cutter alongside a paper jogger to accurately trim printed materials in a high-volume trade bindery environment. The ideal candidate will take pride in producing clean, precise cuts while maintaining efficiency and adhering to strict quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate SABER hydraulic paper cutter (programming, back gauge, clamp settings) Use a paper jogger to align and square lifts before cutting Read and interpret job tickets, cut programs, and layouts Program and execute automated cutting sequences for repeat jobs Accurately cut large sheets of paper to tight tolerances Monitor and adjust: Clamp Pressure, Blade depth, and condition, and back gauge positioning Inspect finished product for square cuts, correct dimensions, and clean edges Maintain efficient workflow between jogging cutting stacking Perform routine maintenance on blade changes, tracking sharpness, cleaning, and lubrication Required Skills & Qualifications Experience operating SABER or similar hydraulic guillotine cutters Familiarity with paper joggers and material handling workflows Ability to program or recall cutting sequences Strong understanding of grain direction, lift handling, and cutting tolerances Proficiency with measurements (fractions, decimals, metric) High attention to detail and consistency Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to safely handle large paper lifts (often 50+ lbs) Preferred Qualifications 2+ years in a trade bindery or commercial print environment Experience with large-format cutters (36"-60") Familiarity with SABER X-15 or similar models Knowledge of upstream/downstream processes (press, folding, stitching, etc.)
