The Opportunity As a Purchasing Agent, you will support our procurement operations by sourcing materials, negotiating pricing and terms, and ensuring reliable supply to meet production needs. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, you'll use ERP systems and strong supplier management skills to maintain cost control, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery. This role plays a key part in keeping operations efficient and supporting company growth. Key Responsibilities Manage the full purchasing cycle for assigned materials and services, optimizing quality, cost, and delivery. Create, issue, and maintain accurate purchase orders in ERP; confirm acknowledgments and resolve discrepancies. Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable lead times. Monitor open orders and proactively expedite materials to ensure on-time delivery. Review ERP procurement reports to maintain appropriate inventory levels and support production schedules. Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse, Sales, and Management to communicate material status and potential supply risks. Compare supplier bids to determine best overall value based on price, specifications, and delivery. Maintain accurate vendor records, pricing histories, and organized purchasing documentation. Research new sources of supply and stay informed on market trends to improve cost and service performance. Support inventory accuracy, including receiving materials and linking required documentation. Qualifications Proven experience in purchasing and procurement processes (2 years minimum). Bachelor's Degree in applicable field preferred. Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful contract management. Familiarity with ERP systems. Knowledge of supply chain management and inventory control. Ability to analyze market trends and pricing strategies. Experience in materials management and production planning.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs. May require travel.
