The Opportunity Stillwell Inc. is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Finishing Specialist to oversee and operate our industrial paint line. This role is responsible for applying high-quality finishes to manufactured components using wet paint and powder coat processes, while ensuring paint line efficiency, equipment reliability, and consistent finish standards. This position plays a hands-on role in day-to-day paint operations, including paint line flow, equipment setup and maintenance, and continuous improvement of cycle time and throughput. Key Responsibilities Paint Line Operations Operate and oversee the industrial paint line, including loading and unloading parts safely and efficiently. Apply finishes using wet paint and powder coating methods based on product specifications and work instructions. Ensure proper surface preparation prior to painting (cleaning, masking, hanging, etc.). Monitor paint line throughput, work-in-process, and cycle times to maximize efficiency. Quality & Process Control Maintain consistent paint quality, coverage, adhesion, and finish appearance. Visually inspect finished parts and identify defects such as runs, fisheyes, thin coverage, or contamination. Adjust spray technique, gun settings, and line parameters as required. Work with Assembly & Finishing leadership to improve paint quality and reduce rework. Equipment Oversight & Maintenance Set up, adjust, and maintain paint equipment including: Paint guns and sprayers Hoses, pumps, filters, and spray booths Perform routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on paint systems. Identify equipment issues early and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures related to paint operations, ventilation, PPE, and material handling. Properly handle and dispose of paints, powders, and related materials. Support compliance with environmental and safety standards related to finishing operations. Team & Communication Work closely with fabrication, assembly, and finishing teams to align production flow. Provide feedback on production readiness, part design issues affecting paintability, and scheduling constraints. May assist in training or coaching other team members on painting and finishing best practices. What You Bring 3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing painting, including wet paint and/or powder coating. Hands-on experience operating and maintaining industrial spray equipment. Strong understanding of surface prep, coating types, and finish requirements. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and safely handle parts of varying sizes. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Attention to detail and pride in finished product quality. Preferred Qualifications Experience overseeing or leading a paint line or finishing operation. Knowledge of paint line efficiency and throughput optimization. Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and inspection processes. Forklift or overhead crane experience (or willingness to become certified).
