Job Description

Summary The Prefinish Production Associate is a versatile, hands-on role responsible for both preparing raw millwork and supporting final quality control on the finishing line. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality from initial surface preparation through final inspection and handling. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
Surface Preparation & Material Readiness Perform hand-sanding, scuffing, and filling of nail holes or knots in raw wood products Prepare materials to ensure a high-quality finish outcome Move raw stock from the warehouse to the prep and production areas Production Line Support Load materials onto the lineal finishing line at a consistent pace to maximize efficiency Assist with maintaining workflow and minimizing downtime Support the team with general production tasks as needed Quality Inspection & Finishing Inspect finished millwork for defects such as runs, dry spots, or debris Ensure all products meet quality standards before moving to the next stage Communicate immediately with the Lead regarding recurring defects or quality concerns Material Handling & Off-Loading Carefully remove finished products from the line without damaging surfaces Stack and organize materials onto racks or pallets for drying or shipment Handle long (up to 16-foot) pieces of wood safely and efficiently Documentation & Reporting Track daily production counts and reject rates Maintain accurate records of output and quality issues General Shop Support Assist with cleaning and maintaining a safe, organized, and dust-free work environment Support Leads and team members with additional tasks to keep operations running smoothly Required Experience & Skills Basic experience with wood handling, hand tools, or manufacturing processes Strong attention to detail, especially related to surface quality and finishing Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/handle large materials Experience with quality inspection in a manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively Physical Requirements Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the shift Ability to lift and handle long wood materials (up to 16 feet) Comfortable working in a production and shop environment
