05/18/2026 Job Summary The Graphic Design and Production Specialist supports the district's mission to inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams, contribute to their community, and engage in a lifetime of learning by designing for both print and digital media district-wide. Work includes designing and illustrating original graphics, creating and/or editing style guides, creating, reviewing, refining and/or reformatting documents to comply with branding standards, and staying up-to-date with industry trends. Additionally, this position sets up, maintains, and operates production machinery, monitors workflow, and completes finishing processes to meet districtwide publication needs and production deadlines. The Graphic Design and Production Specialist will oversee projects from concept to completion, meeting and/or corresponding with clients, creating mock ups and/or proposals, and ensuring print and production finishing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Creates print and digital media projects for the district that meet customer needs and comply with brand standards, as appropriate. (60%) Liaise with clients and/or district employees to discuss objectives of projects, handling multiple clients and projects daily. Produce drafts and concepts to customers for use within the district. Create templates and revise outdated documents to reflect current needs. Ensure the outgoing documents and projects comply with brand standards as appropriate. Determine arrangement of copy and font to create consistency across departments. Find and utilize high-quality graphics. Proofread copy, and offer suggestions for any changes. Create visual communications in an aesthetically pleasing way to convey messages and ideas. Provides districtwide print and production services to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective deliverables. (30%) Set up jobs for prepress and print. Operates black digital printing press, Ricoh C7210s color digital printing press, booklet maker, iJet color envelope press, and large-format poster printers. Operates bindery equipment such as collator, industrial cutter, punch drill, industrial stapler, and folder to complete printed jobs. Maintains inventory of paper and supplies. Demonstrates effective performance and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and customer satisfaction. (5%) Collaborates with Publications staff and building staff to meet project deadlines. Responds in a timely manner to questions and concerns; invites suggestions and feedback. Develops and applies creative methods to establish and maintain positive customer relations. Recognizes and acknowledges the needs and concerns of others; seeks solutions. Ensures compliance with applicable district, state, and local policies, rules, and regulations. (5%) Understands and complies with district and state safety regulations. Understands and complies with local and district safety codes. Ensures satisfactory completion of annual safety inspections. Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in graphic design or a relevant certificate. Two (2) years of prior work experience in graphic design or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Expertly utilizes the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with a primary focus on Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, to create high-impact visual layouts that are optimized for both digital viewing and physical print production. Ability to utilize platforms and applications, such as Canva, to tweak or co-create design projects when needed. Demonstrates a high degree of creative innovation by translating abstract communication goals into compelling visual narratives that align with brand standards. Maintains rigorous attention to detail in typography, layout, and color management to ensure all deliverables are error-free and technically sound before reaching the press. Demonstrates knowledge of digital printing, press operations, and bindery production techniques, with an understanding of print chemistry and quality standards. Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail. Provides clear and professional communication with staff, departments, and stakeholders, fostering positive customer service relationships. Maintains effective collaboration with colleagues to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables. Demonstrates adaptability, reliability, and accountability in performing daily tasks and responding to evolving departmental needs.Physical Demands and Working Conditions Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work requires frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and handling of print materials and supplies. The employee frequently uses hands and fingers to operate printing and bindery equipment with precision. The employee occasionally stoops, kneels, or crouches to access equipment or materials. Visual acuity is required to operate machinery, inspect print quality, and ensure accuracy in production. Hearing and verbal communication are required to interact with staff, follow instructions, and respond to safety signals. The employee must also be able to safely lift and move paper stock and supplies and operate a pallet jack when needed. Work is performed in a print production environment within a school district facility. The position involves routine exposure to chemical odors from inks, materials and machines. Tasks may involve moderate noise levels from printing and bindery equipment. The workspace is generally climate-controlled, but employees may experience temperature variations when handling deliveries or moving supplies. Work is deadline-driven, may involve multiple simultaneous priorities, and requires consistent attention to safety procedures and quality standards.Hiring Range:
