Process Technician / Section Supervisor (3rd Shift) Job Description The Process Technician / Section Supervisor coordinates machine operations for an assigned production section to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing. This role directly supervises production personnel, supports injection molding processes, and ensures that operating and safety procedures are followed while driving continuous improvement in product quality and equipment performance. Responsibilities Coordinate machine operations in the assigned section to ensure adherence to operating procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements. Supervise and direct all machine operators on a daily basis to ensure production schedules and quality control standards are consistently met. Monitor each machine using production cards and inspection sheets, taking timely action to resolve production and machine issues to maintain product quality and control costs. Complete all required paperwork and documentation related to production activities and results so performance can be evaluated and potential problem areas identified. Ensure machinery and tooling receive routine and normal maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operation. Assist setup personnel as needed to ensure that equipment setups meet quality standards and support production schedules. Assign work to production associates based on their skills and strengths, and adjust assignments as needed to optimize performance and support their development. Evaluate and work closely with associates to help them resolve production problems, build new skills, and enhance their job satisfaction and commitment. Enforce all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment and minimize risk. Recommend equipment changes or modifications that improve operating efficiency, product quality, and cost control. Read and interpret blueprints and production documentation to guide machine setup, process adjustments, and quality checks. Troubleshoot and resolve injection molding process issues and tooling problems to maintain consistent production quality. Operate and help maintain assembly and related production equipment as needed to support section performance. Follow and enforce complex instructions, work standards, and production priorities across the section. Communicate frequently with team members and other departments to coordinate production needs, address issues, and ensure accurate information flow. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding processes and equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and solve injection molding process and tooling issues. Experience with injection molded plastic parts and plastics injection molding operations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to support production and quality requirements. Ability to operate and maintain assembly equipment and perform related production activities. Ability to follow complex instructions and effectively supervise hourly production workers. Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production environment. Proven capability in overseeing multiple machines and coordinating machine operations. Strong attention to detail in monitoring production cards and inspection sheets. Ability to complete accurate production paperwork and documentation. Solid safety awareness and ability to enforce safety procedures and regulations. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and other functions. Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift (approximately 11:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.) in a 24/5 operation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in plastics, molding, or assembly production environments. Familiarity with troubleshooting mechanical and process-related issues on production machinery. Experience recommending and implementing equipment changes or process improvements. Comfort working with minute parts, tools, and equipment requiring fine motor skills. Ability to work at various levels, including floor level and at or above shoulder height, when maintaining or inspecting equipment. Ability to move throughout the production floor and occasionally move, transport, or position objects as needed. Comfort working in a fairly loud production environment with machinery while using appropriate PPE. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place indoors throughout the general production area in a primarily climate-controlled facility, with warmer conditions near the machines. The environment is fairly loud due to operating equipment, and appropriate personal protective equipment, including ear protection, is provided. The role requires regular movement throughout the production floor to access workstations and equipment. At times, you may need to move, transport, position, or install objects and occasionally ascend or descend onto machines. Tasks can involve working at floor level, at or above shoulder height, and occasionally away from the body, sometimes using tools. The position also involves handling small parts and tools, inspecting equipment both up close and at a distance, distinguishing colors, and judging distances and spatial relationships. You may occasionally access file cabinets and operate office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, calculators, or copiers to complete documentation and communication. Frequent communication with others on the production floor is an integral part of the workday. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Grandview, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $83200.00/yr.
