We are seeking a Lean Manufacturing Specialist to support production operations through the application of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for driving process improvements, eliminating waste, and supporting Essex's key priorities of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The Lean Manufacturing Specialist will also assist in developing and implementing best-in-class Continuous Improvement (CI) strategies to enhance operational performance across the organization.
Essential Duties:
Utilizes lean principles to improve the operations and processes of a manufacturing organization. Analyzes production workflows, workspace design, and resource utilization to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or waste. Coordinates A3 & Kaizen events with production, quality and manufacturing engineering. Coach and mentor others to support successful completion of CI projects and quick wins. Teach and train employees on Lean Principles (5-S, 8 Wastes, A3, Std Work, Product Flow, etc.). Use tools to build equipment necessary for 5-S activities (shadow boards, visual aids, forms/logs) Identify value-added vs non-value-added work and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Recommend improvement projects based on current manufacturing methods and needs. Work with various department stakeholders to build a Continuous Improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change. Complete pre-and-post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects. Partner with team members to develop new support materials based on revised processes; to include training, reporting, and system enhancements. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization Comply with Essex company policies and maintain a positive work environment. Work with Planning to review ERP/MRP plans and make improvements to parameters as necessary .
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required. 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma principles preferred; Green or Black Belt certification is a plus. Previous manufacturing experience is highly valued, especially within the aerospace industry. Familiarity with CAD software and 3D printing/additive manufacturing technologies is beneficial but not required. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, including Pivot Tables, formulas, and VBA/macros. ERP/MRP knowledge and understanding is a plus.
