Job Title:
Production Associate Job Description The Production Associate operates and monitors casting, furnace, and material-handling equipment in a heavy industrial plant environment. This role supports the safe and efficient production of ingots by running specialized machinery, handling molten metal processes, and maintaining accurate production records while following strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Operate the ingot casting line to ensure consistent and accurate ingot production. Run the densimeter and accurately interpret readings to support quality control. Work at the pour station, monitoring and maintaining the proper level of the ladle during pouring operations. Perform furnace charging by measuring furnace levels, operating furnace controls, and charging material as required. Use calculation methods to weigh materials in both pounds and kilograms by operating and interpreting scales. Operate furnace exhaust systems, including dampers and door controls, to maintain proper ventilation and process conditions. Understand and operate pump controls to support furnace and casting operations. Monitor and operate equipment using RPM and amperage readings to maintain correct circulation and process performance. Handle skimming and shipping activities related to molten metal and finished product as needed. Perform furnace tapping using proper techniques to safely unplug and plug the furnace. Operate forklifts and front-end loaders to move materials, products, and equipment safely around the plant. Operate spectrometers, milling machines, and sanding machines to support production and quality processes. Maintain and monitor accurate operational and production records in accordance with plant procedures. Assist in training and guiding less experienced team members on equipment operation and safe work practices. Communicate effectively with management and team members regarding production status, issues, and improvements. Follow all safety, quality, and productivity procedures while maintaining professional behavior toward others. Essential Skills Experience operating forklifts in an industrial or production environment. Experience in general labor or general production work in a plant or manufacturing setting. Hands-on experience with machine operation in a production or construction environment. Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in daily tasks. Strong commitment to safety in a hot, dusty, and noisy industrial environment. Focus on producing high-quality work and following quality procedures. Ability to maintain productivity while handling multiple tasks and responsibilities. Effective communication skills for interacting with management and team members. Professional and respectful behavior toward others in a team environment. Willingness and ability to learn new processes, equipment, and skills and continuously improve performance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with furnaces, casting operations, or molten metal processes. Familiarity with operating spectrometers, milling machines, or sanding machines. Comfort working with measurement systems in both pounds and kilograms. Ability to read and interpret equipment indicators such as RPM and amperage. Experience using front-end loaders or similar heavy equipment. Previous involvement in training or mentoring less experienced team members. Work Environment This role is based in a hot, dusty, and noisy plant environment typical of heavy industrial and furnace operations. You will work around large machinery, casting lines, furnaces, forklifts, and front-end loaders, as well as equipment such as spectrometers, milling machines, and sanding machines. The position follows a 2x3x2 rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts: days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required and provided in line with plant safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
