Log Processing Lead Manufacturing Beaumont, Mississippi Description Position at
Hood Plywood Job Description/Primary Purpose:
Help lead the Log Processing manufacturing area utilizing the Hood Philosophy of "The Hood Way" by engaging people and leading them through the process to drive sustainable performance, while maintaining positive employee relations, meeting the company's production goals, and operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This position would provide direct support to supervision and will set an example for co-workers striving for safety, excellence and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide work direction to the Log Processing team. Help coordinate the operation of the Log Processing team to ensure optimal production quality and efficiency. Communicate regularly with team and management to ensure timely 2-way communication concerning department issues. Monitor the operation of the Log Processing equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime. Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify opportunities for improvement. Understand monthly, weekly, and daily numbers regarding efficiency, productivity, downtime, quality, and safety. Work with supervision to resolve operating, scheduling, and production issues as needed. Help set the example for safety, health and environmental policies and practices within the team. Demonstrate proper professional conduct for others. Support the implementation of reliability maintenance and continuous improvement culture across the facility. Reinforce the continuous improvement process through team members. Perform basic maintenance checks on the dryer, identifying potential equipment malfunctions, and coordinating with maintenance personnel for repairs. Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Job Preferences/Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred; Associate or technical degree a plus; experience will be considered in place of education. Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good knowledge of plant/manufacturing processes. Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. Ability to effectively direct a team, delegate tasks, and provide clear instructions.
