NSC Staffing NSC Staffing is currently hiring experienced Shipfitters for work in Pascagoula, MS. This position supports structural repair, modernization, and new construction on U.S. Naval vessels, Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships, and commercial marine projects. If you have strong shipyard experience and solid mechanical skills, we want to hear from you. Pay & Per Diem $29/hr - Local $20/hr + $100/day Per Diem - Travelers (must live 75+ miles from Pascagoula, MS) Position Overview Shipfitters perform structural steel work including layout, fabrication, and installation of shipboard components in a production shipyard environment. Key Responsibilities Perform structural repairs and modernization work with minimal supervision Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications Measure, layout, fabricate, and install shipboard structures Fabricate templates and install frames, bulkheads, and structural components Use oxy-acetylene torches for cutting and washing Operate hand tools and power tools safely Complete Condition Found Reports (CFRs) as required Maintain a safe and organized work environment Follow OSHA and shipyard safety standards at all times Qualifications Minimum 4 years of shipfitting experience in a shipyard environment Strong ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and structural drawings Knowledge of ship repair terminology and compartment nomenclature Experience with template fabrication, squaring plates, and structural installation Welding experience with SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW preferred Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and structural shop equipment Strong math skills (standard and metric measurements) Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members Work Environment Shipyard environment with exposure to weather, noise, confined spaces, and elevated work areas.
