Job Description

Hours:
2nd shift: 2:30pm-11:30pm M-F Join Bakkavor foods as a production lead and help deliver outstanding quality, service and value to our customers. Bakkavor specializes in the making and developing of private label prepared foods for the top global grocery retailers and well-known international food services. As a company, we supply over 5,000 products to the world's largest food retailers. We are looking for individuals who relish the opportunity to work as part of a team in a factory environment. Our environments can be busy, cold and wet, but your safety comes first and all personal protective equipment will be provided.
J OB SUMMARY
The Production Lead reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for coordinating the overall functionality of the department ensuring productivity and quality goals are met. Trains, coaches and develops the skill level of each team member and has the responsibility of assigning tasks to team members according to the operational specifications. . Enforces safety rules, procedures, Food Safety and GMPs. Responsible for informing management of any observation or finding that could impact the safety and quality of company products. Works closely with support staff such as QA Technicians, Sanitation, Maintenance Engineering, Warehouse and Supply Chain to resolve issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following, but are not limited to: Reviews production schedule to coordinate production and assists in assigning job orders and product specifications to team members. Works with supervisor and other team leads to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure production schedule is met. Updates production metrics and facilitates regular team communication. Provides hourly updates to Production Supervisor regarding safety, quality, productivity, case counts and any issues that may affect the production schedule. Enforces and promotes workplace safety rules with all team members and is the best example of safe work practices and behavior. Coordinates and conducts weekly safety training with team members following the published training schedule. Completes all required training records and ensures fully understanding of material covered. Ensures proper processing of products, including mixing, pouring, assembly, cooking, slicing, cutting, finishing, packaging, palletizing, etc. in accordance with production schedule and work instructions. Trains team members on proper use of equipment as needed and ensures employees receive the proper training and certification. Ensures all operators are completing production reports and raw material usage accurately and timely. Trains and coaches employees; answering employee questions, helping employees with problems, and oversees employee work for quality, productivity, food safety and workplace safety compliance. Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and providing effective feedback. Follows documented policies and procedures as designated by the Company's Quality System. Partners with Quality Assurance to meet Company Food Safety Standards, ensuring consistent quality and appearance of products. Provides training on GMP and conducts observations on food safety practices on a regular basis to address GMP violations. Completes required documentation and summarizes shift performance at the end of each day based on the measuring of safety, quality, productivity and delivery. Identifies and supports continuous improvement efforts with Production Supervisor. Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions. Directs and participates in the housekeeping of work areas by coordinating with the sanitation team. Maintains a working knowledge of all equipment and tools in facility while observing all sanitation and safety precautions. Communicates regularly with and in coordination with Production Supervisor in assigning duties to employees and examining work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to specifications. Works closely with support staff such as QA Technicians, Sanitation, Maintenance Engineering, Warehouse and Supply Chain to resolve issues. Fosters a positive and respectful work environment. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by completing all course work assigned by Company. Performs only job functions that they have been trained on and fully understand. Is punctual, on time, and adheres to company attendance policies. Overtime and weekend work will be required based on business needs. Regular Attendance is an essential job function. May perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities involving interviewing, hiring, firing or disciplining. However, they are responsible for developing employee skills through training and coaching and for observing and reporting issues regarding employee productivity, quality and safety performance in an assigned area.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY
This position is responsible for following company policies, procedures and work instructions to ensure the production, storage and distribution of safe, quality food. Responsible for informing management of any observation or finding that could impact the safety and quality of company products. Education and/or Experience Minimum High School education or one-year certificate from college or technical school; or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively under highly stressful conditions. Ability to prioritize and organize work, handle multiple tasks, and work with a sense of urgency. Ability to embrace change and lead through delegation and strong follow through.
LANGUAGE SKILLS AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Bilingual English / Spanish preferred. Ability to perform unit measures, conversion calculations and other mathematical calculations reasonably necessary to satisfactorily perform job duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 15 times/hour for up to 10 hours. The employee must frequently bend low and/or reach high, push and/or pull up to 2,000 pounds using mechanical devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
