Position Purpose The Control Room Specialist is responsible for managing the automated systems and processes involved in receiving and unloading raw materials for production. This role oversees the batching system, ensuring accurate and efficient transfer of materials into production equipment. The position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and adherence to production schedules. Requirements 1st Shift hours are Monday through Friday 6am to 2pm (7:30 am to 3:30 pm and may vary during commissioning) . There may be times where overtime and weekend work may be required. Please see Supervisor for shift timeframes. 2nd Shift hours are Monday through Friday 2pm to 10 pm (will train on 1st Shift hours during commissioning). High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.Experience:
1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or material handling, preferably in a food or pet food plant. Familiarity with automated batching and unloading systems is a plus.Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of control systems, such as SCADA or PLCs. Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues. Strong proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft programs (Required)Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to monitor multiple systems with clear communication to operators on ingredient filling needs. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on safety and quality. Working Conditions Exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures. May require standing for long periods, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.Key Responsibilities Batch Management:
Operate and monitor automated systems to control the unloading and transfer of raw materials into batching equipment. Ensure proper sequencing and measurement of materials to meet recipe specifications and production needs. Ability to monitor multiple systems Clear Communication skills to work with operators on ingredient filling needs Work cross functionally with quality / formalist to ensure you are batching the right formula based on ingredients Close monitoring of raw ingredient stocks for upcoming runs. Ensure batch alignment with production needs Help maintain and accurate stock and inventory of raw ingredients Ensure accurate ingredient delivery to batchesSystem Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Observe system performance via control panels and adjust settings as needed to optimize material flow and prevent errors. Respond to alarms or malfunctions promptly, coordinating with maintenance or engineering teams to resolve issues.Unloading Operations:
Supervise the unloading of raw materials, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with quality standards. Conduct inspections of incoming materials for contamination, damage, or discrepancies in documentation.Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate logs of batch production, material usage, and system performance. Prepare shift reports highlighting any deviations, troubleshooting efforts, and corrective actions taken.Compliance and Safety:
Follow all GMPs, HACCP guidelines, and safety procedures during unloading and batching operations. Conduct regular equipment inspections and ensure proper housekeeping of the unloading and batching areas.Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve unloading and batching processes, focusing on efficiency and waste reduction. Provide feedback to supervisors on potential system upgrades or process changes.Benefits:
