Job Title:
Sample Lab Compounder - 3rd Shift Job Description The Sample Lab Compounder plays a key role in preparing, mixing, and processing powder and liquid formulations in a controlled production environment. This role focuses on accurately measuring and combining raw materials, operating compounding equipment, and maintaining strict quality and safety standards. The position is on 3rd shift and works closely with cross-functional team members to support food, flavor, and fragrance product development and production. Responsibilities Retrieve raw materials and ingredients from designated storage areas and verify that they match batch requirements. Accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales and other measuring devices according to standard batch instructions. Mix various ingredients, including liquids and powders, following established formulas and procedures. Identify solids that require melting and safely melt them using hot plates and other appropriate equipment. Identify ingredients that require dilution, dilute them to the correct concentration, and document all raw material usage. Process batches using liquid, powder, homogenizing, and spray-dry compounding methods as specified in batch instructions. Follow detailed batch instructions to accurately weigh dyes and other substances into the equipment in the correct sequence. Check batch consistency and measure the viscosity of mixtures to ensure they meet product specifications. Collect batch samples and submit them to the laboratory for testing and quality verification. Maintain quality standards by verifying the weight and contents of raw materials before and during production. Conduct in-process batch inspections and document all process events, deviations, and adjustments in accordance with procedures and policies. Follow food safety guidelines at all times and complete accurate documentation of all work performed. Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and follow all safety and sanitation protocols in the production area. Handle and blend raw materials safely, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and storage practices. Wear required uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety rules and regulations. Collaborate with team members in a cross-functional environment to meet production schedules and quality targets. Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation and safety standards. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year of compounding experience working with powders and raw materials. Experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment with a strong commitment to safety and sanitation protocols. Hands-on experience handling and blending raw materials in a production or manufacturing setting. Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales and follow detailed batch instructions. Experience mixing liquids and powders and operating basic compounding equipment such as mixers, hot plates, and related tools. Capability to check batch consistency and measure viscosity using appropriate methods or instruments. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain precise records of raw material usage and process events. Ability to follow food safety guidelines and production procedures consistently. Willingness to wear a uniform and required personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift. Ability to work overnight 3rd shift hours on a consistent schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in chemical mixing, compounding, or chemical manufacturing is highly beneficial. Experience with batch making and batching processes in a production environment. Familiarity with homogenizing and spray-dry compounding methods. Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting while maintaining quality and safety standards. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment. Reliable, punctual, and able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Work Environment This role operates in a team-based, cross-functional production and sample lab environment focused on food, flavor, and fragrance products. The position is on 3rd shift, with typical schedules such as Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. The work involves handling powders, liquids, dyes, and other raw materials in a GMP-regulated facility that emphasizes safety, sanitation, and food safety practices. You will use scales, mixers, hot plates, and other compounding equipment while standing for extended periods and moving materials as needed. The environment values collaboration, clear communication, and adherence to procedures. Wearing a uniform and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times while on the production floor.
