Job Description

Production Worker - Day Shift Job Description The production worker supports the printing press operator by running automated machines that print on bags and pouches, handling materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. This is a physically demanding role that requires frequent lifting of 40-50 pounds and close collaboration with the press operator to ensure efficient, high-quality production. Responsibilities Assist the printing press operator with running automated machines that print on bags and pouches. Load and unload materials into the machine, including rolls of material, ink, and finished product. Handle frequent lifting of materials weighing approximately 40-50 pounds throughout the shift. Maintain a clean and organized work area during production and downtime. Learn and perform basic material movement tasks within the plant, including mounting and staging materials. Perform general production tasks such as assembly, packaging, and operation of production line equipment. Conduct visual inspection of products to ensure quality and identify defects. Support packing, labeling, and preparing products for shipment. Use basic tools and equipment as needed for loading, operation, and material handling. Follow all safety procedures and standard operating procedures in a manufacturing environment. Work effectively as a team player with press operators and other production staff to meet production goals. Assist with inventory-related tasks such as counting, picking, and staging materials as needed. Essential Skills Experience in production, manufacturing, or general production environments. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 40-50 pounds regularly. Basic experience with assembly, packaging, and production line operations. Ability to perform visual inspection to identify product defects or quality issues. Comfort working with automated machinery and production equipment. Ability to use a tape measure for basic measurements in a production setting. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine operation and material mounting tasks. Experience with material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving materials. Ability to follow instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines. Strong teamwork skills and a willingness to assist operators and coworkers as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in manufacturing, operator roles, assembly, or packaging is highly beneficial. Experience with forklifts or other material handling equipment is a plus. Familiarity with cleaning and maintaining a tidy work area in an industrial setting. Exposure to power tools and basic mechanical tools in a production environment. Ability to read basic documentation, such as simple blueprints or work instructions, is an advantage. Experience with inventory tasks such as picking, labeling, and counting materials is helpful. Work Environment This role is based at a manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, NM. The position primarily follows a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a 7.5-hour workday and two 15-minute breaks. Additional first-shift hours may be required as needed. There are also second-shift opportunities from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with additional hours as needed. The work takes place on a production floor with automated printing presses, bag and pouch production equipment, and standard material handling tools. The environment involves standing for most of the shift, frequent lifting of 40-50 pounds, and working around moving machinery and materials. Employees should expect a typical manufacturing setting with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and efficient production processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.25/hr.
