About the Role As a Coil Winder at Niagara Power Transformer, you'll be hands-on in producing the coils at the core of every transformer we build. It's skilled, precise work that directly impacts the quality of infrastructure powering communities across the country. If you're mechanically inclined, comfortable with technical work, and looking for stable employment in a clean, climate-controlled facility, we want to hear from you. This is a 2nd shift position, Monday through Friday, 8-hour days with occasional overtime. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 41. What You'll Do Operate wire-coiling machines to wind wire and sheet coils used in transformer production Review work orders and specifications to determine materials and processing requirements Read and interpret winding sheets, drawings, and sketches Operate winding lathes, punches, brakes, slitters, and shears Cut, strip, and bend wire leads at coil ends using hand tools Select, load, and handle materials including wire, insulation, and coil components Attach, alter, and trim materials using hand tools Apply solutions or adhesives to electrical components and bake as required Examine and test completed components using measuring devices and record results accurately Remove completed components using overhead cranes Record production and operational data on required forms What We're Looking For Ability to read and interpret winding sheets, drawings, and sketches Experience with or willingness to learn brazing and welding equipment Good math skills, able to read a tape measure and take accurate measurements Must own your own tools Reliable and able to work independently
Physical Requirements:
Above average grip and pinch strength with firm grip for tool and paddle use Above average hand coordination Ability to stand for extended periods, including in a bent-forward position Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; two-person lift procedures in place for heavier items
