NY 14219 HOURS
Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Saturdays and overtime as needed.
COMPENSATION
$16.50-18.00/hr., based on experience and skills.
SUMMARY:
Must be familiar with and adhere to service requirements, equipment and operator limitations and safe operating procedures at all times. The position will also be picking meatballs (copper windings) & fluff (waste) from conveyor belt. They will also be doing general clean up and yard maintenance including but not limited to digging, sweeping, & shoveling. Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned. Performs other duties as directed by management.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Ensures a safe work environment for self & others at all times. Stand as assigned at the picking station along the conveyor line. Work on a fast-moving production line, with shredded material coming down on a conveyor belt. Pick the finished product as the material comes down the conveyor belt. Identify and remove non-ferrous metals, trash, plastics, rubber, wood, and other contaminants from shredded materials. Sort shredded materials into designated chutes and/or containers. Assist in clearing minor conveyor jams under the supervision and following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Remove oversized or jam-causing materials to prevent conveyor blockages. Communicate with Shredder operator and supervisors regarding material issues or hazards. Assist maintenance personnel during scheduled downtime or cleanup periods. Sweep, shovel, and maintain housekeeping in and around the picking shack. Keep picking area clean, well-organized and safe. Informing & communicating with all yard personnel. Ensure that Quality, Environmental, and Safety Standards of Metalico, Inc. for production, customers and employees are consistently achieved. Performs other tasks as assigned or requested by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Industry experience in metal preferred. Prior experience with hand and power tools required. Ability to work inside or outside regardless of the weather or season as required. Attention to detail and accuracy with weights and pricing. Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits. Punctual and reliable; good attendance required. Good communication skills. Team-player Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills; must be willing to cross-train on other equipment. Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise. Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness. Basic math, reading and writing English skill are preffered.
