Seasonal Field Production Team

Field Production Crew Tenmile Farm Foundation is seeking field production crew members for our 100-acre vegetable and fruit farm in Dover Plains, New York. Tenmile is dedicated to alleviating hunger by producing nutritious vegetables, fruits and proteins for donation to food insecure New Yorkers. Through its partnerships with food access programs, Tenmile is committed to ensuring that families seeking emergency food are served with dignity and have equitable access to nutritious, locally-grown food.

Responsibilities:

Work with farm manager to participate in all aspects of our produce operation: seeding; greenhouse work; cultivation and field work; transplanting; weed and pest management; harvesting, washing and packing Participate in regular field work including seeding, transplanting, cultivating, irrigation and hand weeding, hoop house work, harvest, post-harvest washing and packing, and other field projects Ensure timely completion of daily tasks Ensure accurate farm record-keeping Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Assist with wash and pack operations Willing to perform other duties as needed and work cooperatively with members of the farm team

Qualifications/Preferred Skills:

Prior farming experience or desire to work in farming is a plus. Able to consistently perform quick, efficient, and high-quality work, both independently and with coworkers. Carry out tasks as instructed, possibly without direct supervision, and ask for clarification if unsure. Can perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks, such as kneeling, squatting, and lifting up to 40-50 lbs, willingness to work outside in various weather conditions. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and capacity to adapt to operational challenges. Valid driver's license.

Salary:

$20-$22/hour, 40-48hours/week This position offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art farm and have a significant impact addressing food insecurity in NYC and the Hudson Valley.
