Month Contract Job Summary:
Alstom is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support production ramp-up, process improvement, and manufacturing operations on the shop floor. This role will focus on improving production efficiency, resolving manufacturing issues, supporting quality initiatives, and ensuring smooth production flow during project startup and ramp-up activities. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in welding, stainless steel fabrication, metal distortion control, and production process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support daily production activities and troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues on the shop floor.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and production flow.
  • Support production startup and ramp-up activities to stabilize manufacturing operations.
  • Investigate and resolve welding, fit-up, dimensional variation, and fabrication issues.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production and quality concerns.
  • Improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, and production methods.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and manufacturing teams to achieve production targets.
  • Support PFMEA reviews, process validation, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and production process improvements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong experience with MIG and TIG welding processes.
  • Experience in Stainless Steel Fabrication and Assembly.
  • Knowledge of weld quality, weld defects, fit-up issues, and fabrication best practices.
  • Experience identifying and reducing metal distortion, warpage, shrinkage, and dimensional variation during welding and fabrication processes.
  • Experience improving welding procedures, fixture design, and production methods to enhance quality and throughput.
  • Experience supporting production ramp-up, manufacturing process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or related process improvement experience.
This position is highly focused on hands-on production support, welding process improvement, stainless steel fabrication, and metal distortion reduction to support successful manufacturing ramp-up and operational excellence.
