Job Description

Sheet Metal Worker - HVAC Ducts & Fabrication About the Role We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Worker to fabricate, assemble, and install HVAC ductwork and related sheet metal components. This role blends shop fabrication and field installation , requiring strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading skills, math proficiency, and a commitment to safety and craftsmanship. You'll play a hands‑on role in delivering high‑quality HVAC systems from fabrication through final installation. Key Responsibilities Install, alter, and repair HVAC ductwork, hoods, and other sheet metal components per blueprints and work orders Accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layouts, dimensions, and materials Plan daily work activities and calculate material requirements to complete projects efficiently Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including: Power saws Drill presses Hand and power shears Pan and box brakes Lock formers and cleat benders Rollers, grinders, and sanding tools Fabricate, assemble, and coordinate ducts, hoods, and sheet metal components to ensure proper fit and function Perform assembly work including bolting, soldering, sealing joints and seams, and applying insulation as required Inspect finished assemblies and installations for compliance with specifications, codes, and project requirements Conduct in‑process and final quality checks to verify performance and identify corrective actions Troubleshoot issues using systematic and effective problem‑solving methods Maintain safe operation and proper use of all tools, machinery, and equipment Provide technical guidance and direction to less experienced team members Deliver professional, customer‑focused service during on‑site work Safely lift, move, and position heavy materials and tools as part of daily tasks Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of sheet metal installation and fabrication experience , specifically with HVAC ductwork and hoods At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or shop environment operating fabrication equipment Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings Hands‑on experience bending, forming, cutting, and assembling sheet metal products Strong working knowledge of HVAC duct systems and sheet metal fabrication processes Proficiency with fabrication tools such as saws, brakes, shears, lock formers, cleat benders, and rollers Excellent math skills for measurements, layout, and material calculations Ability to lift and handle heavy materials safely Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Ability to follow building codes and job specifications (code knowledge preferred) Proven commitment to quality workmanship and professional customer service Preferred Skills & Experience Experience installing HVAC ducts, hoods, and air‑conditioning/heating systems Familiarity with metal framing and precision sheet metal cutting Use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers) Exposure to laser cutting or laser‑guided fabrication equipment Experience applying insulation to ductwork and sheet metal components High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality assurance Effective communication skills and the ability to mentor less experienced workers Strong commitment to safety and adherence to tool and machinery procedures Work Environment Combination of shop and field work Shop environment includes operating fabrication equipment such as: Power saws, drill presses, shears, brakes, rollers, lock formers, grinders, and sanding tools Possible exposure to laser cutting equipment Field work includes on‑site installation, inspections, adjustments, and quality checks Physically active role involving lifting, standing, bending, and working around machinery Adherence to strict safety standards and use of appropriate PPE Work hours align with typical industrial and construction schedules Why Work With Us? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
