Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing daily production operations on the plant floor, ensuring that manufacturing and packaging activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role provides hands-on leadership to production workers, supports supervisors and management, and helps ensure production goals are met.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist and support the Production Management Team in all aspects of production.
  • Enforce all food safety standards in compliance with SQF policies and procedures.
  • Lead, coach, and support production workers
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure proper staffing across production lines
  • Ensure all production activities follow SOPs, GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations
  • Monitor production performance, output, and quality to meet production targets
  • Perform line checks and inspections to ensure product quality and packaging accuracy
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment, process, or quality issues and escalate as needed
  • Ensure employees follow safety policies and properly use PPE
  • Train new hires and cross-train team members on equipment, processes, and safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate production records, downtime reports, and quality documentation
  • Enforce housekeeping and sanitation standards throughout the shift
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality assurance, maintenance, and other departments
  • Assist with film changes, startups, and shutdowns of production lines
  • Ensuring that all other duties and responsibilities as assigned are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Additional technical or supervisory training or experience preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or food packaging, including lead or senior operator experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety practices (GMPs, HACCP, sanitation standards)
  • Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
  • Ability to follow and enforce company policies and procedures
