Job Description

Grind Machine Setup Union | Full-Time | Off-Shift (2nd or 3rd) Available Join a Company Built on Craftsmanship Since 1898 Crescent Manufacturing is a union facility and one of the only companies in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to the design and production of high-precision specialty cutting blades. We're seeking a to set up and operate grinding equipment while ensuring precision, quality, and efficiency in our manufacturing process. What You'll Do Set up grinding machines to meet exact specifications for each part Operate grinders and ensure consistent production of high-quality products Read and interpret engineering prints and production documentation Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, microscopes, comparators) Perform machine adjustments including grind wheels, hones, and strops Monitor product quality and identify non-conforming materials Troubleshoot machine issues and make adjustments to maintain specifications Perform minor repairs and communicate maintenance needs Complete required paperwork, data sheets, and production documentation Maintain proper fluid levels, clean filters, and ensure machines are operating efficiently Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives Operate forklifts and assist with material movement as needed •Please note all training will be completed on day shift, then new hire will be transferred to an off-shift• What We're Looking For Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability High attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to read prints and follow technical instructions Comfortable working with precision measuring equipment Ability to work an off-shift (2nd or 3rd) Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Strong communication and teamwork skills Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
Assessment Requirement:
Prospective new hires (and internal bidders) must score at least 80% on the Grinding Setup Skills Test, which includes general math and mechanical reasoning, to qualify for this role
Experience:
Requires high mechanical and troubleshooting capabilities. Manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required. Training is provided Why Work at Crescent Manufacturing?
