2nd, 5:00PM-1:30AM Job Summary The Materials / Production Control Lead
  • Off Shift is a high-responsibility, single-point-of-contact role responsible for managing all Production Control, materials coordination, and shipping execution during 2nd shift operations.
This position operates in a high-volume manufacturing environment and serves as the only Production Control resource on shift. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, highly independent professional with strong manufacturing experience who can make real-time decisions to maintain production flow, resolve material shortages, and ensure on-time shipment performance. This role requires someone comfortable operating without direct supervision while coordinating across production, logistics, suppliers, and customer requirements in a fast-paced environment. Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, production control, materials, or logistics environment
  • Strong working knowledge of EDI and ASN processes (critical requirement)
  • Experience using ERP systems such as QAD or similar for order entry, shipping, and scheduling
  • Background in high-volume manufacturing (automotive or Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier strongly preferred)
  • Ability to operate independently as the sole Production Control representative on shift
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to respond to production disruptions in real time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree preferred but not required) Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience working 2nd or 3rd shift in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting OEM customers (Honda experience a plus)
  • Exposure to supplier expediting or emergency material recovery processes
  • Familiarity with production scheduling and customer release systems (e.g., EDI 862, production forecasts)
  • Experience coordinating shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure
  • Strong communication experience in cross-functional manufacturing environments Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Monitor production output versus customer demand and adjust schedules as needed
  • Manage all Production Control activities independently during 2nd shift operations
  • Create and process sales orders, shipping documents (BOL), and pick lists in ERP system
  • Monitor inventory levels, trailers, dunnage, and material availability to prevent shortages
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EDI/ASN issues impacting production or shipping
  • Communicate production status and escalate issues to leadership as required
  • Contact suppliers directly to resolve material shortages or expedite emergency shipments
  • Coordinate shipping priorities based on production status and customer demand
  • Support repair orders, production recovery, and schedule adjustments in real time Physical and Environment Requirements Physical expectations and working conditions associated with the job may include standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 25-50 lbs depending on role, and working in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
