Welder Helper Job Description Join our team as a Welder Helper, where you will play a crucial role in assisting with structural steel erection on commercial construction projects. You will primarily perform stick welding using wire welding machines (training provided) and work with various structural steel components. Travel to different job sites as needed, with job locations potentially changing weekly. Responsibilities Assist with structural steel erection on commercial construction projects. Perform stick welding primarily using wire welding machines. Work with structural steel components such as tube steel columns, clipping plates to columns, and bar joist reinforcement including overhead/ceiling work. Assist with installation related to reinforced structural components, T-Beam concrete flooring and ceilings, and support work around HVAC/AC units. Safely assist with lifting, positioning, and installing steel beams weighing thousands of pounds. Work on a variety of job sites including docks, hospitals, banks, and other commercial buildings. Essential Skills Basic welding knowledge (stick welding preferred; wire welding machines a plus). Ability to assist with structural steel erection. Experience or exposure to structural steel components (tube steel, columns, beams, plates). Understanding of bar joist reinforcement (or willingness to learn). Ability to perform overhead/ceiling work. Familiarity with commercial construction environments. Basic use of hand tools and power tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Willingness to learn welding and structural steel erection. Basic experience with welding or construction is a plus, but not required. Ability to perform heavy physical work and lift materials with assistance/equipment. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various conditions. Strong attention to safety and teamwork. Work Environment Work Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 2:30pm in active construction environments. The role involves heavy physical labor, frequent overhead work, and working at heights. Projects vary by location and scope, requiring steel-toe boots and additional PPE based on the job site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broken Arrow, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
