Production Laborer Job Description This role involves performing physically demanding production and general labor tasks in a heavy industrial scrap metal environment. You will sort and organize metals for processing and recycling, handle materials, and assist with loading and unloading trucks. The position requires working both inside a warehouse and outside in the yard, with roughly half of your time spent outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will regularly lift up to 50 pounds and move metal parts from one area to another while following strict safety and PPE requirements. Responsibilities Sort and organize various metals for processing and recycling according to established procedures. Handle materials safely and efficiently, including moving metal parts and components between designated areas. Unload incoming trucks and load outgoing trucks with metal materials and products. Work both inside the warehouse and outside in the yard, spending approximately 50% of the time in each environment. Perform physically demanding tasks, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds of metal parts. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks. Adapt to working in a heavy industrial environment, including exposure to noise, dirt, and outdoor weather conditions. Assist with other general labor and production duties as assigned to support overall operations. Essential Skills Experience working in manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial environments. Comfort working in a heavy industrial setting with loud noise, dirt, and heavy equipment or machinery operating nearby. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including regularly lifting up to 50 pounds. Comfort working outside approximately 50% of the time in varying weather conditions. Willingness and ability to wear all required PPE while working, including hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toed boots, and ear plugs. Reliability and consistency in following safety procedures and operational guidelines. Basic material handling skills in production, manufacturing, warehouse distribution, or industrial settings. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experienced in general labor within production, manufacturing, warehouse distribution, or industrial environments. Familiarity with material handling practices in heavy industrial operations. Strong work ethic and willingness to perform repetitive, physical tasks throughout the shift. Work Environment The role operates on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The setting is a heavy industrial scrap metal yard that is on the dirtier side of work environments and can be loud in many areas due to heavy equipment and machinery running. Work is split between an indoor warehouse and an outdoor yard, with approximately half of the time spent outside, exposing employees to varying weather conditions. Safety is a strong focus, and employees wear full PPE, including hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, and ear plugs.
