Job Description

Job Description Keystone Scientific Glass LLC is hiring two highly skilled Scientific Glassblowers to fabricate complex, custom laboratory glassware for advanced R&D applications. As a core member of our production team, you will work with borosilicate glass to create a wide range of items. Examples of the work include, but are not limited to, glass instruments, Schlenk vessels, distillation apparatus, chromatography columns, and other bespoke laboratory glassware. (The product portfolio is not fixed and depends on individual client orders.) Responsibilities
  • Perform hot forming, assembly, and annealing of custom glass apparatus using horizontal welding machines (HWM) and professional surface‑mix torches (Zenit, Bravo, Carlisle).
  • Execute mechanical processing tasks including cutting, grinding, and polishing glass components to precise tolerances.
  • Read and interpret customer‑provided blueprints and CAD drawings to fabricate bespoke designs.
  • Conduct in‑process quality inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workstation, adhering to all company safety protocols (OSHA).
  • Mentor junior team members as the production staff expands in subsequent years. Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in scientific glassblowing, with demonstrated proficiency in non‑linear custom fabrication.
  • Hands‑on expertise with horizontal glass lathes and a variety of bench torches.
  • Deep understanding of borosilicate glass properties, annealing cycles, and thermal stress management.
  • Ability to fabricate precision items with tight tolerances (±0.1 mm) from technical specifications.
  • Formal training or a journeyman background in scientific glassblowing is highly valued.
  • Membership in the American Scientific Glassblowers Society (ASGS) is a plus.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
