GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED
The Material Prep and Assembly Associate is responsible for producing high quality work-in-progress and finished products to satisfy the needs and expectations of customers. The position requires focus on keeping the work area organized, correctly setting up and preparing fixtures for assembly, competently operating the hand and power tools machines to perform various assembly tasks, assisting in neighboring departments as needed, and shutting down the department each evening ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance of the foaming machine
    General Duties:
    o Properly set up and prepare the work area each morning for the day's production, including the retrieval of all needed raw materials, and preparing the correct fixtures for the day's operations. o Prepare components for paint and dye operations, including but not limited to: § Removing packaging § Cleaning parts. § Sanding/scuffing/smoothing pieces. § Assembling components with hardware, adhesives, and epoxies. § Organizing and staging pieces by work order and due date. o Assist in safely operating thermoforming ovens to mold plastics to create sub-assembly and finished components in accordance with written and verbal work instructions. o Operate hand and pneumatic tools to trim, sand, and rework subassemblies and WIP materials in preparation for foaming and finishing operations. o Ensure the work area remains organized and free of debris or other waste that may hinder the efficient and safe operation of the department. o Communicate clearly with the Department Team Lead regarding tooling performance and any problems or inefficiencies any individual mold may be creating. o Communicate clearly with other departments regarding Material quality and other issues. Listen to and implement any feasible feedback internal customers may provide to ensure their expectations are being met. o Maintain and continually update data for Continuous Improvement efforts, and individual performance measures. o Properly shut down and organize the work area at the end of each day by competently following machinery shut down procedures, placing all raw materials in their appropriate storage containers, placing all fixtures in their appropriate location, unplugging all tools, sweeping the floor and taking trash to the outside receptacles o Maintain and keep needed supplies and tools stocked. Communicate with appropriate individuals when tools and supplies need to be ordered.

    SKILLS & EDUCATION
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent and level of experience which provides the incumbent with the appropriate level of knowledge needed to excel in position.
    • Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
    • Attention to detail.
    • Good manual dexterity.
    • Good hand/eye coordination.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    The Material Prep and Assembly Associate must be able to stand 90% of each workday, and is subject to bending, squatting, pushing, lifting heavy objects, crawling and working in otherwise awkward positions.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS
    Works in a well-lit environment but is subject to occasional high decibel sounds and/or non-toxic fumes also associated with production. This position's duties also require working with tools, machinery, and other production items that have sharp edges, are under high pressure, or are extremely hot.
