Job Description

Slitter Operator Constantia Flexibles is located in Blythewood SUMMARY As a part of an overall manufacturing team, be able to perform all aspects of slitting and rewinding at the highest quality levels. Assist in other areas when needed. Responsible for efficient operation of slitter and rewinder. Ensures quality product from slitting to packaging/inspection. Provides direction to packer on production issues. Ensures compliance to Safety and GMP requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate one or all slitters and the rewinders as a member of the Production Team who is multi-skilled and cross-trained on all department process equipment. Provide leadership to packer in performing quality slitting and meeting manufacturing goals. Proficient at process trouble shooting including visual defect detection. Provide training to the packer or new employees on all equipment and processes. Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs including specifications. Maintain accurate paperwork, SAP/ PDC functions for jobs. Perform all quality checks and make slitter and rewinder adjustments during start-up. Plan and ensure that team members for the upcoming jobs prepare all set-ups. Perform all initial quality checks and periodically throughout the run and adjust the slitter accordingly to ensure zero defects to the customer. Perform daily and periodic cleaning and preventative maintenance in order to maintain 5-S standards throughout the manufacturing area. Plan and ensure that all set-ups are prepared for current and upcoming jobs. Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality, waste, and production. Monitors product quality obtain and measure samples. Responsible for all measurements, identifying and resolving visual defects and finish rolls that do not meet customer quality specifications. All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required. Notify maintenance on any mechanical problem with equipment and follow up with maintenance and/or supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS
Complete WorkKeys® testing for the areas of Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information achieving a minimum level of 4 for each area.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge of computer software and functions, including PDC and SAP functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. Schedule. Night shift position 6:40pm to 7am
