Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Punch Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this vital role, you will operate punch presses and related machinery to shape, cut, and form sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will ensure high-quality production standards are met while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about manufacturing, fabrication, and mechanical processes to contribute to innovative projects and grow their skills. Responsibilities Receives instructions both verbally and from detailed prints and routings Will be required to set-up and operate various Fabrication shop equipment to complete CNC turret punching centers (Trumpf, Amada), Performs operations that will include shearing, punching, forming, notching chamfering, deburring. Assists with and/or constructs fixtures, jigs, tools, soft vise jaws, shop aids Will produce piece parts & parts for prototypes as well as parts for machine and building maintenance as needed. Assists with and/or performs repairs to parts on jigs, fixtures, dies and shop aids Assists with repairs to machines and equipment in Fabrication shop as requested or required by maintenance. All levels may perform other functions such as moving parts/material, loading/unloading, sweeping, cleaning, and various other assignments as needed Uses various measuring and inspection tools and equipment for piece part inspection, compliance, accuracy verification Maintains a clean and safe work area May be asked to work outdoors on occasion as well as in other Departments as needed or required by shop work load Requirements Proven experience operating punch presses or similar metal fabrication machinery in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in CNC programming, CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, EDM processes, and press brake machines. Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications. Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other quality inspection instruments. Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to tooling adjustments, and quality assessments. Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques including stamping press operations and tooling setup. Familiarity with welding processes and general fabrication practices is a plus. Ability to operate forklifts and cranes safely within a manufacturing setting. Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety standards and quality assurance. Excellent hand-eye coordination combined with mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting machinery issues quickly.
