TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Length of position: 12 months, year round.

SUMMARY:
The Visual Production Specialist is responsible for capturing, producing, and editing high-quality video content that promotes the mission, programs, and community of Texas School for the Deaf. This role focuses on videography, post-production, and technical media support to enhance storytelling, engagement, and communication across digital platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(List in order of importance.) Video Production & Editing Plan, shoot, and edit professional-quality video content for TSD initiatives, events, and programs Produce short- and long-form videos for social media, website, and internal/external communications Manage all aspects of video production including lighting, audio, and camera operation Edit video content using industry-standard software, ensuring accessibility (e.g., captions) Content Development Collaborate with departments to develop compelling visual stories aligned with TSD's mission Support promotional campaigns, recruitment efforts, and community engagement through video Maintain a consistent visual style and brand across all video productions Technical Media Support Operate and maintain video, audio, and production equipment Provide technical support for live or recorded events (e.g., streaming, recordings, AV setup) Troubleshoot and ensure proper functioning of media equipment Event Coverage Capture video footage of campus events, student activities, and special programs Coordinate scheduling and logistics for video production needs Digital & Media Integration Prepare and format video content for various platforms (social media, website, presentations) Support integration of video content into TSD's communication channels Collaboration & Support Work closely with the Supervisor of Communications and Communications team to align video content with broader messaging strategies Assist with media-related needs for publications, presentations, and outreach efforts

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduation 2-years' experience in videography, video editing, and media production 2-years' experience in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) 2-years' experience in camera operation, lighting, and audio equipment
Sign Language:
At hire, the applicant must have sign language skills equivalent to a Signed Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) level of
INTERMEDIATE.

ADVANCED.
If hired with a sign language proficiency level below this level, you are required to participate in signed communication learning opportunities on a regular basis until you have achieved the sign language proficiency level assigned to your position. Desirable Qualifications Ability to tell compelling visual stories through video Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., captioning) preferred ASL skills and/or experience working in Deaf community preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Attributes
AV Equipment Operations:
Deep understanding of audio, video, and lighting gear, including cameras, projectors, displays, and mixers.
Signal Flow and Connectivity:
Knowledge of how audio/video signals travel and how to connect devices via HDMI, SDI, Ethernet, and XLR.
Production Techniques:
Knowledge of lighting, framing, and live-streaming workflows.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
Identifying technical failures quickly under pressure.
Installation and Maintenance:
Installing and repairing multimedia equipment, including wiring and structural setups.
Technical Communication:
Effectively guiding users through system operations and translating complex technical issues to clients.
Digital Editing:
Basic video editing and audio post-production skills. Attention to
Detail:
Ensuring optimal picture and sound quality.
Teamwork and Collaboration:
Working with production crews and stakeholders to achieve event goals
