Job Summary The Winder Operator is responsible for winding operations and the safe, efficient handling of production materials, including cores, core racks, strapping materials, and ink supplies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, operational efficiency, and mill performance. Key Responsibilities Perform winding operations in a safe, quality-focused, and productive manner. Inspect finished products and determine final quality and disposition. Operate overhead cranes safely and effectively. Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to optimize mill performance. Support shutdown maintenance activities and production startups. Read, understand, and follow System Level Procedures and Work Instructions. Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the work area. Recognize and appropriately respond to safety warnings, signs, horns, sirens, paging systems, and alarms. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Essential Job Requirements Ability to successfully train and advance within a pay-for-skills environment. Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, cost control, and productivity. Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills. Basic computer literacy. Ability to climb stairs and lift to 40 pounds without assistance. Ability to read and respond to mill signage, information systems, alarms, warning systems, and paging systems. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and machine noise while utilizing appropriate hearing protection. Ability to stand for approximately 90% of the workday. High school diploma or equivalent experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous pulp and paper manufacturing experience preferred. Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
