Production Assistant

Printpack is seeking qualified candidates to fill Extruder or Press Assistant positions for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Assistant position is a crucial support role working alongside the Extruder or Press Operator to ensure efficient production operations in a manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on technical support with material handling responsibilities, requiring attention to detail and strong organizational skills. This position is fundamental to maintaining smooth production flow while supporting quality standards and safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Shifts Available:

12-hr Day Shift 7:00 am

• 7:00 pm (3/2 rotating schedule: Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat; Sun/Wed/Thu) 12-hr Night Shift 7:00 pm
• 7:00 am (3/2 rotating schedule: Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat; Sun/Wed/Thu)

Key Responsibilities:

Assist Operator with overall machine operations and maintenance Monitor and maintain resin supply or ink levels, ensuring proper placement and stocking Handle material waste management, including weighing, removal, and baling Clean and maintain equipment, particularly NIP roll during setup and downtime Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized workspace Meet quality standards and production goals while minimizing waste Train other assistants on essential job functions Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations Communicate effectively with other departments regarding mechanical issues, materials, and shift information Support job changeovers and preparations as needed Maintain accurate documentation of production activities and material usage

Education & Experience:

Demonstrated stable work history Problem-solving capabilities Previous Manufacturing experience Previous Extrusion or Press experience preferred

Required Skills:

Self-directed and task-oriented with the ability to multitask Strong mechanical aptitude Attention to detail and quality control Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Basic computer proficiency including email Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools Good organizational skills Basic math and measurement skills Ability to follow detailed instructions Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required Good communication skills

Additional Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age Must pass pre-employment assessments Drug screening required Background check required

Physical Demands:

The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to: ​Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and squat Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills Manual dexterity for machine operation and maintenance Ability to climb ladders safely Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses) Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks

Work Conditions:

The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to: Noise levels above 80 dB Operation of complex machinery Solvents, fumes and inks Variable Temperatures Must be able to work flexible shifts May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
