In 2021, Igloo was acquired by Dometic Brands, creating the opportunity to globally grow both brands together. Built on a legacy of quality and innovation, we are seeking an On-Site Manufacturing Trainer to join our team and support our continued growth. This role will be involved in providing hands-on, customized instruction directly on the production floor to improve employee technical skills, safety, and operational efficiency, facilitating new hire onboarding and guiding them through learning the business, evaluating skill sets, tracking employee progress, and supporting onboarding, as well as setting the expectations of our employees in the workplace.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Trains new hires and existing employees on a variety of manufacturing processes at workstations, including, but not limited to documentation handling, assembly methods, and equipment operation (setup, operation, cleaning, troubleshooting, etc.). Serves as solid resource for new hires for questions and support to assist in the new hire assimilation into the workforce. Reads and interprets work instructions and process procedures. Coordinates with Manufacturing Trainer to prepare and deliver onboarding for new employees. Ensures that the training schedule is being adhered to. Observes new hires and assists with educating and developing them to ease their transition to the production floor. Provides feedback on activities and observations on the progress of new hires and employee concerns. Ensures/verifies new employee work assignments and gets them to the machine for timely shift and break transitions. Works with current employees to either reinforce training or conduct retraining as necessary. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains a positive learning environment and responds to the individual needs of trainees. Ensures the new employees are aware of output expectations for the jobs they are doing. Evaluates progress of each trainee during the training period; identifies strengths and weaknesses of trainees and provides feedback to the trainee on their progress; documents this progress and reports to management. Continuously monitors the progress of employees after they have entered the production environment. Remains updated on all changes in procedures and regulations. Participates in Continuous and Process Improvement initiatives. Ensures that the materials presented in the training programs reflect the most recent process updates. Maintains a thorough understanding of current manufacturing processes and production methods. Completes Training Checklists with new employees in accordance with operating procedures. Communicates to management regarding any issues related to trainees under their instruction. What do we offer? Minimum 6 months of prior experience in a manufacturing environment; prefer plastics manufacturing in assembly, blow molding, or injection molding. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must have solid time management skills and the ability to meet goals and deadlines. Strong organizational skills. Detail and quality oriented. Ability to work and promote safety of oneself and other coworkers. Ability to recognize and communicate unsafe practices to management for continuous improvement of the work environment. Dependable and prompt for start of the shift and return from breaks or lunch periods. Must have solid attention to detail.Language skills:
Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend both English and Spanish. Standing & Walking Roles may involve extended periods (up to 12 hours) of standing and walking, including moving at a brisk pace and occasional stair climbing. Postural Requirements Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in low or awkward positions during production or maintenance tasks. Lifting & Material Handling Operator-level roles may involve lifting up to 25 lb repeatedly throughout the shift. Technician-level roles may involve lifting up to 50 lb multiple times per day, including overhead lifts. Where possible, mechanical aids (e.g., hoists, forklifts) are used. Fine Motor Skills & Tool Use Use of both hands is required to operate tools, perform adjustments, and handle assembly materials with precision. Visual Requirements Sufficient visual acuity (e.g., 20/40 with or without correction) is necessary for tasks involving inspection and safe equipment operation. Environmental Conditions Work is performed in a production setting where seasonal temperatures may range from 100-120°F (with humidity) in summer to cooler conditions in winter. High noise levels are common; hearing protection is provided and required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as ear protection, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, gloves, and protective clothing may be required depending on the task. Additional Job Considerations These roles can be physically demanding, involving repetitive motions and long hours. Technicians may be required to handle heavy molds and materials; use of material handling equipment is provided and encouraged.
