LINE ASSISTANT

Purpose:
The Welder Helper assists welders in completing various tasks such as preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. In addition, this role includes operating a forklift to transport materials, tools, and finished products within the manufacturing area.
Responsibilities:
Assist Welders in repairing and fabricating equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques. Operate Forklifts to move heavy materials, including steel components and finished products, within the facility. Operate Heavy Equipment when required to complete tasks efficiently. Prepare, Assemble, and Tack Weld parts and surfaces to be welded, ensuring proper alignment and fit. Maintain and Clean Equipment as well as the work area to ensure an organized and safe environment. Notify Supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. Support Material Handling by cutting, grinding, or cleaning metal surfaces as required. Assist in Quality Control by ensuring that welded products meet specifications before transport or storage. Perform General Maintenance Tasks such as organizing tools and cleaning the welding area. Follow Safety Protocols when operating equipment, handling materials, and working near welding operations. Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Understanding of Welding Design Techniques, principles, and tools necessary for producing technical plans, drawings, and models (MIG welding preferred). Basic Math Skills related to welding assignments. Forklift Certification or ability to obtain certification within a specified time frame. Manual Dexterity and Stability for precision work Physical Stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform manual labor. Environmental Awareness to handle frequent exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, and airborne particles. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or welding blueprints. Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is a plus.
