Job Description

What Youll DoYoull be the technical expert behind our hydraulic cylinder remanufacturing operation. From initial inspection through final testing, youll diagnose failures, guide repair strategies, and ensure every cylinder meets performance expectations before it goes back into service.

This role sits at the center of quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. When something doesnt add up, youre the one people come to.

What This Role Looks Like Day-to-DayInspect incoming hydraulic cylinders and components for wear, damage, and complianceDiagnose failure modes, mechanical, hydraulic, material, or operationalEvaluate rods, barrels, pistons, glands, and sealing systems for repairabilityDetermine repair vs. replace decisions based on condition, cost, and performanceDocument findings clearly, measurements, nonconformances, and recommended actionsOversee critical repair processes including machining, honing, welding, and thread restorationEnsure all work meets OEM specifications, tolerances, and internal quality standardsValidate performance through pressure testing, leak testing, and functional checksInterpret and apply engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specificationsSupport development of standardized repair methods and process improvementsWhere You Add the Most ValueLead or support failure analysis investigations and identify root causesRecommend corrective and preventive actions that actually stickPartner with machining, assembly, and quality to resolve complex issuesImprove reliability, not just fix individual partsTrain and mentor technicians, inspectors, and apprenticesRaise the overall technical capability of the teamWhat Makes You a Strong FitYou dont just fix problems, you figure out why they happenedYou understand how hydraulic systems behave in the real world, not just on paperYoure comfortable making judgment calls when the answer isnt obviousYou can move between hands-on work and technical analysis without missing a beatYou communicate clearly, whether its on the floor or in a reportExperience Were Looking ForHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred8+ years of hands-on experience across hydraulic repair, machining, assembly, testing, and inspectionIFPS Hydraulic Mechanic (HM) or Hydraulic Specialist (HS), or ability to obtain within 9 monthsStrong knowledge of hydraulic cylinder design, function, and failure modesAbility to read and interpret prints, drawings, and hydraulic schematicsExperience with precision measurement tools and machining processesFamiliarity with NDT methods (MT, UT, PT, visual)Working knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG) and repair techniquesExperience with cylinder testing methods and quality standardsKnowledge of ISO 9001 or similar QMS environmentsExperience with ERP systems and digital documentation toolsForklift experience is a plusWork EnvironmentThis is a hands-on manufacturing environment. Youll be working around moving equipment, noise, and typical shop conditions.

Physical RequirementsRegularly lift and move up to 50 lbsUse hands, tools, and inspection equipment throughout the shiftAlternate between sitting, standing, and moving around the floor as needed
