Job Description

Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description This role supports a ceramic and glass tile manufacturing facility by performing hands-on production tasks in a highly industrial environment. You will work primarily in the pressing department sanding tile, preparing and mixing raw materials, operating production machinery, and completing basic assembly and packaging tasks. The position involves working around large industrial equipment in a very dusty, dirty, and sometimes wet environment where respirators and other protective equipment are required. You will contribute directly to the quality and consistency of tile products while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards on the production line. Responsibilities Work in the pressing department sanding tile using a hand sander or sanding machine while following safety and quality guidelines. Sort, lift, catch, and package tile while inspecting each piece for quality control and identifying defects. Stack tile from pallets onto conveyors accurately, counting and organizing tile in specified quantities (such as stacks of 10) to maintain production flow. Prepare and mix raw materials for ceramic tile and glazes according to established formulas and procedures. Operate production machinery and equipment safely, including starting, stopping, and monitoring machines during operation. Perform basic assembly tasks related to tile production and packaging as directed by supervisors. Clean the production line and surrounding work area when the line is not running, including sweeping, spraying lines down with a hose, and removing debris. Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment, including N95 masks or respirators in designated areas. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accurate counts, consistent quality, and adherence to production standards. Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, consistently meeting performance and productivity expectations. Identify and solve practical problems on the line using logic and sound judgment while working under general supervision. Adapt to working around large industrial machines, kilns, and equipment in a hot, dusty, and dirty environment. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines related to working around kilns, heavy equipment, and materials containing silica. Engage in repetitive physical tasks such as twisting, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the shift. Regularly lift and move objects up to 50 pounds as part of daily production activities. Essential Skills Previous manufacturing, production, general labor, or general production experience. Experience working in an industrial environment around large machines and equipment. Strong attention to detail, especially when counting and stacking tile in specific quantities. Ability to perform constant repetitive movements, including twisting, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to regularly lift and move objects up to 50 pounds throughout the shift. Capability to solve practical problems using logic and to work self-sufficiently under general supervision. Comfort working in very dirty, dusty, and wet conditions and willingness to get dirty when needed. Demonstrated track record of exceptional attendance, reliability, and performance. Ability to perform assembly, packaging, and inspection tasks accurately and efficiently. Willingness and ability to wear face masks and respirators as required and to work in areas with high heat from kilns. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in advancing into operator and leadership roles over time. Comfort working in an older industrial building with large, dirty, and dusty equipment. Ability to maintain focus and productivity during repetitive tasks such as counting and stacking tile. Openness to tailored training and development programs designed to support career growth. Willingness to follow safety protocols related to silica exposure and respirator use. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
