Job Description

This position supports the daily operations of the fertilizer and ice-melt packaging facility by assisting the Production Supervisor and Lead with coordinating workflows, monitoring employee performance, and ensuring safe, efficient production. The role focuses on coaching and supporting employees, maintaining quality standards, and reinforcing company policies and procedures. The successful candidate leads by example, actively participates in employee development and performance documentation, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. This position collaborates with plant personnel to align quality objectives with production procedures, helping maximize product quality while controlling costs. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support company goals. RequirementsEducation & Experience High school diploma required Experience in a manufacturing environment Experience and/or knowledge related to managing production operations preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational skills Ability to operate or train on production equipment, including bagging machines, palletizers, shrink wrappers, and forklifts Self-motivated and capable of working independently and within a team environment Ability to respond positively to changing priorities Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with diverse personalities Ability to support and guide production employees in their work environments Working Conditions Work performed primarily in the bag room Average workweek of 42.5 hours Regular interaction with employees and supervisors Reports directly to the Shift Supervisor Performance Expectations Maintain professional and positive interactions with coworkers Promote quality and continuous improvement Follow company policies and procedures Support teamwork and professional development Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance Deliver accurate, timely, and thorough work SummaryPosition Summary Assists the Production Supervisor in managing day-to-day operations of the fertilizer and ice melt packaging facility. Monitors employee work quality and production efficiency to ensure safe and effective manufacturing processes. Coaches employees and models exemplary workplace behavior while participating in hiring, training, and performance documentation. Supports the company's Safety, Quality, and Production goals through training, leadership, and continuous evaluation of processes. Provides input on quality control objectives and collaborates with production personnel to improve product quality and minimize costs. Performs additional duties as necessary to support company objectives. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Filling in for chemical handlers, material handlers, pipe cleanout tech, and forklifts as needed Coaches new employees in the proper operation of plant equipment Assists production employees in understanding and following process procedures Performs the duties of production lead when needed Coach and support the workers engaged in fertilizer and Ice Melt plant processes, with an emphasis on the Plant. Assists the shift supervisor/Lead, applying company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules in support of achieving departmental, plant, and corporate goals for safety, quality, and productivity Assist plant employees in continuous improvement activities Develop, direct, and manage manufacturing personnel and train them to utilize all equipment and tools properly Assist manufacturing personnel in maintaining product quality and meeting customer requirements and expectations. Evaluate processes/procedures at this facility and provide recommendations for improvement Recommends improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency Support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company's Quality Policy, Quality System & the appropriate regulations for the area Additional Duties Perform other responsibilities as directed by the Shift Supervisor within training scope Shift availability: Day Shift 5:30 AM - 2:30 PM Willing to be clean-shaven? (Must be willing to wear a respirator for at least an hour every day)
