Job Description Summary/Objective:
The Production Assistant reports to the Editor and supports the production, design, and digital presentation of the Catholic Herald. This position assists with newspaper layout and design, digital content production, advertising materials, and multimedia projects.
Essential Job Functions:
Design and layout newspaper pages. Create advertisements, promotional materials, graphics, and other visual content for print and digital platforms. Assist with planning, producing, and placing content for website and social media channels. Support diocesan communications assisting with graphic and design assignments. Coordinate and communicate with print vendors, online publication partners, and other external service providers. Assist with occasional photography and writing assignments for print and digital publication.

Should have strong interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively and joyfully with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail. Contribute to a positive working environment through words and actions, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor. Demonstrate integrity and a striving for excellence at work. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. A reputation for ethical work, honesty, reliability, and professionalism in all interactions. Ability to effectively work with diocesan staff Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing demands. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Adobe (InDesign and Photoshop), Canva, and layout design experience or a willingness to learn.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Advertising, or a related field preferred.
