Job Title:
QC Analyst Job Description The QC Analyst performs standardized and custom laboratory tests to evaluate material properties, supports product development and troubleshooting, and ensures that all testing and documentation meet established quality and regulatory standards. This role works on second shift and plays a key part in maintaining the reliability, consistency, and traceability of material testing within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Responsibilities Perform standardized and custom tests to evaluate mechanical and physical properties of materials, including tensile strength, elongation, hardness, and thermal resistance. Prepare test specimens using appropriate cutting, molding, or conditioning techniques to ensure accurate and consistent test results. Collect and record test data accurately, ensuring all measurements and observations are documented in a clear and organized manner. Analyze test data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and inconsistencies, and report findings promptly. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as universal testing machines, ovens, viscometers, and microscopes in accordance with operating procedures. Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate maintenance needs to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation. Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and ensure all test results are entered into digital systems for full traceability and reporting. Collaborate closely with Research and Development, Quality, and Production teams to support product development, process improvements, and problem resolution. Communicate test findings clearly to internal stakeholders, providing data-driven insights and recommendations when appropriate. Follow all safety protocols and chemical handling procedures to maintain a safe laboratory environment. Comply with relevant regulatory and industry standards and internal quality procedures during all testing and documentation activities. Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting enhancements to testing methods, documentation practices, and laboratory workflows. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED required. Strong mechanical aptitude for working with testing equipment and materials. Quality control experience or exposure within a laboratory, manufacturing, or industrial environment. Strong understanding of material properties and testing methodologies. Proficiency in data entry and basic computer applications, including Excel and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings clearly in both written and verbal form. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tests and documentation requirements. Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills. Ability to follow written procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements consistently. Prior laboratory experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting highly preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in materials science, chemistry, or a related field preferred. Experience operating universal testing machines, ovens, viscometers, and microscopes. Experience working with digital data systems and electronic lab notebooks. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as R D, Quality, and Production. Strong written documentation skills for maintaining lab notebooks and digital records. Experience in a quality-focused environment with established testing protocols and standards. Work Environment This position operates primarily in a laboratory environment within a manufacturing or industrial setting. The role is scheduled on second shift, typically from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with initial training conducted on first shift. The QC Analyst regularly works with laboratory instruments such as universal testing machines, ovens, viscometers, and microscopes, as well as computer systems including Excel and LIMS for data entry and reporting. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and regulatory guidelines, and requires consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Work involves standing at lab benches, handling test specimens, and operating mechanical and analytical equipment in a structured, process-driven setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
