Job Title:
QC Analyst Job Description This role supports the Quality Control (QC) Lab by providing supplemental product testing and feed sample analysis to accommodate an increased sample volume. Responsibilities Conduct wet chemistry and general lab testing, including Sieve Analysis, Thin Layer Chromatography, and Loss on Drying using Vacuum Ovens. Document all results in a lab notebook following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) guidelines. Perform high throughput testing, conducting 12 to 16 tests per day, and handle weighing and sample preparation of materials ranging from 50mg to 1g. Manage sample receipt and log-in for feed analysis. Perform sample preparation duties such as grinding, weighing, and solution preparation. Analyze customer feed samples using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Column Chromatography, and UV-visible spectroscopy. Document results according to GMP guidelines and report final results to management. Handle typical sample load of 16 per day, with increased volume in late summer. Essential Skills Proficiency in GMP, quality control, and chemistry. Ability to learn quickly and integrate seamlessly into a small team in the feed lab or a larger team in the general QC product testing lab. Capacity to follow procedures and systems without attempting process improvements. Strong interpersonal skills to get along well with team members. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry preferred; other science disciplines acceptable. 6+ months of QC experience in a GMP lab with experience in HPLC, Column Chromatography, wet chemistry testing, or UV Analysis. Ability to discuss basic lab equipment and glassware knowledge, and maintain a good lab notebook.
Alternative profile:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (ACS Accredited) with hands-on undergraduate research experience, preferably with Column Chromatography, HPLC, or UV-Vis. Work Environment The position operates on a Monday to Friday day shift, with core hours between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM and a start time between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, requiring a full 8-hour shift. Consistent start times are needed, though some flexibility is allowed for personal situations. During training, the hours will be 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The team consists of one other analyst in the Feed Lab and a Lab Technician who assists with sample receipt and glassware washing. Additionally, the role may involve collaboration with other members of the 20-person QC team. The work environment includes handling a mix of powdered pharmaceutical products and actual animal feed, which are naturally dusty and have an associated odor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of St. Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
