Job Description

The Role The Quality Control Specialist ensures that all products produced by the Community Food Works's processing facilities meet our high standards for quality, safety, and sustainability. This role implements quality control procedures, conducts testing and monitoring, and supports continuous improvement of our products and processes. You will work as part of the Food Safety & Quality team supporting quality control and food safety systems across Community Food Works' production facilities, including the Mill, The Cannery, and The Pilot Plant. These facilities support grain milling, value-added food production, product development, and startup of new production processes. This role supports day-to-day FSQ activities and new facility/product startup, including testing and monitoring, record review, verification checks, and maintaining food safety documentation. Key Responsibilities Implement quality control procedures and testing protocols for all products Conduct regular quality testing and monitoring throughout production processes Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications Document and report quality control data and issues Work with production teams to address quality issues and implement improvements Support the development of new products by establishing quality parameters and testing protocols Assist with regulatory compliance and third-party certifications Train production staff on quality control procedures and standards Collaborate with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager on food safety initiatives Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across all processing facilities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or related field 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, laboratory work, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated manufacturing environment is preferred Knowledge of quality control methods, testing procedures, and documentation Experience with food production processes and equipment Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively with production teams Understanding of food safety principles and practices Alignment with the mission, values, and guiding principles of Community Food Works and NoVo Location & Compensation This role is based in Kingston, NY. Much of your time will be spent between our several processing facilities located in Kingston, New York. The compensation available for the role considers a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, and other organizational needs. The estimated salary range for this role is $58,500
