Quality Control (QC) Manager - Mechanical Construction 📍

~$80M Mechanical Construction Project About the Opportunity This is a high‑impact leadership role on a large‑scale, technically complex mechanical construction project supporting advanced life‑science facilities. As the Mechanical QC Manager, you will own quality from fabrication through construction, commissioning, and final turnover—serving as the central authority ensuring systems meet stringent industry codes, GMP standards, and documentation requirements. You'll partner closely with Project Management, Superintendents, Inspectors, Engineers, and Commissioning teams, influencing both field execution and project closeout. This role is ideal for a quality leader who thrives in regulated environments, values precision, and enjoys driving inspection readiness and quality excellence across major capital projects. What You'll Lead & Own Provide overall leadership for all mechanical quality control activities across shop fabrication and field installation. Ensure full compliance with contract documents, approved drawings, ASME codes, and GMP requirements. Perform and oversee daily inspections of carbon steel and stainless‑steel welding in accordance with
ASME B31
standards. Inspect and verify valve installations, tagging systems, and mechanical identification across all systems. Inspect HVAC, utility, and process piping systems and witness pressure testing, flushing, and functional testing. Coordinate and witness test activities while maintaining accurate, real‑time inspection and test documentation. Conduct detailed field walkdowns using Procore , verifying installations against P&IDs , isometrics, and IFC drawings. Maintain and control accurate P&IDs, coordinating redlines and revisions with engineering and field teams. Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to implement consistent, GMP‑compliant valve tagging programs. Oversee material inspection and traceability, including MTRs, heat numbers, and IMER documentation . Manage welding quality programs, ensuring procedure compliance, welder qualifications, and code adherence. Coordinate NDE/NDT activities and review daily welding and inspection reports. Utilize Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio for drawing reviews, markups, and digital QC coordination. Support and optimize digital welding inspection tools and custom QC applications. Enforce Good Documentation Practices (GDP) across Procore, SharePoint, Microsoft tools, Bluebeam, and tracking logs. Lead preparation of Turnover / Construction Closeout Packages (CTOP/TOP) including pressure tests, weld records, and material traceability. Support commissioning efforts through system walkdowns, punch‑list resolution, and as‑built documentation. Serve as the primary quality liaison between construction teams, inspectors, commissioning teams, and project leadership. Drive continuous improvement across site‑wide mechanical quality processes. What We're Looking For 8+ years of mechanical quality control experience, ideally in biopharma or life‑sciences construction . Strong working knowledge of
ASME B31
codes , hygienic piping, and mechanical system installation. Proven experience operating in GMP‑regulated environments . Demonstrated leadership in welding inspection, material control, and mechanical quality programs. Advanced proficiency with Procore for inspections, walkdowns, and quality documentation. Strong expertise with Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio . Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and SharePoint. Ability to develop and maintain inspection, testing, and turnover tracking systems. Experience using digital welding inspection tools or QC management applications. Exceptional attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational discipline. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with trades, inspectors, engineers, and commissioning teams. Preferred Qualifications AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification. Experience on large‑scale pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life‑science construction projects. Background in piping layout, mechanical coordination, and MEP system interfaces. Experience supporting as‑built documentation and capital project closeout. Familiarity with structured construction quality programs and document control systems. Work Environment This role is based on an active construction site in Westchester County, NY , supporting advanced laboratory and preclinical manufacturing facilities. You will work in a fast‑paced, safety‑driven environment where quality, compliance, and collaboration are critical to project success. The position requires a strong on‑site presence, balancing field inspections with office‑based documentation and coordination. Standard construction hours apply, with flexibility to support inspections, testing, and key project milestones. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tarrytown, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
