Position Description:
The Quality Manager plays a crucial role in our operations by leading the Quality department and overseeing all quality assurance functions. This role is responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards, and supporting both internal teams and external requirements. The Quality Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, develops team capabilities, manages quality processes, and ensures products meet stringent aerospace and customer specifications to support the achievement of organizational goals and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Lead and develop the Quality team, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across quality and manufacturing processes Develop and manage inspection planning, testing systems, and data collection/reporting methods Oversee supplier quality and monitor manufacturing processes Direct quality documentation and reporting including: First Article Inspection (FAI) Reports Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) Process certifications Collaborate with customers to address quality concerns, deviations, and engineering improvements Manage internal audits and coordinate external/customer audits to maintain certifications Ensure proper calibration and documentation of all measuring and test equipment Support new product development by reviewing documentation and identifying inspection and gaging needs Ensure completion of quality documentation such as: Ballooned drawings Inspection check sheets SPC charts PFMEA and control plans Process flow diagrams Capability studies and MSA Maintain work instructions and quality-related documents Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
Qualifications and Competency Requirements:
Experience & Education High School Diploma or GED, required Additional technical or quality certifications are a plus Minimum of two years of manufacturing leadership experience required Minimum of two years of experience in an aerospace role required Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), APQP processes, and
AS9100, ISO 9001
2015 (ISO13485 preferred) Experience with CMM programming and related software Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Proven ability to train, mentor, and develop team members Ability to drive change and implement process improvements Additional Attributes Ability to work independently and closely follow directions Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques Fundamental knowledge of CNC machining/manufacturing machining principles High level of attention to detail and ability to multitask. Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and written). Willingness to embrace and actively support the unique culture and values of Masterbilt Ability to focus on the tasks and details relevant to the position, while also switching quickly between tasks Compliance Ability to comply with and pass all required background check and drug screening requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random drug screening as required/requested. Physical Activities & Working Conditions The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative, but not exhaustive, of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is typically performed in a production environment and requires the ability to stand for extended periods of up to 6-8 hours. Duties involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying items. The role requires regular use of hands for operating equipment, keyboarding, and writing, as well as the ability to read, respond, and communicate effectively throughout the day via phone, in-person, and computer. The individual must be able to listen, problem-solve, and respond appropriately in a fast-paced setting, while demonstrating fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English. This position also requires the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. on a sporadic basis.
Work Schedule:
The typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday with hours based on a production environment, with occasional nights and weekends, depending on the needs of the position and the organization.
