Job Description
About the Role We are a cGMP compliant dietary supplement manufacturer seeking an experienced QA/QC Supervisor to lead our quality operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee daily quality activities, supervise QC technicians, and ensure every product meets FDA cGMP requirements for dietary supplements. Key Responsibilities Quality Operations Oversee day-to-day quality activities across raw material receiving, in-process production, and finished product release Review and approve batch production records (BPRs), master manufacturing records (MMRs), and certificates of analysis (COAs) per 21 CFR 111 requirements Make material disposition decisions (approve, reject, quarantine) for raw materials, components, in-process, and finished goods Testing & Inspection Oversee identity testing of incoming dietary ingredients Conduct and supervise quality inspections using FTIR, scales, moisture analyzers, luminometers, allergen testing, and environmental monitoring equipment Manage finished product specifications testing for identity, purity, strength, composition, and contamination limits Oversee retention sample program and stability testing protocols Compliance & Documentation Lead internal audits and serve as a key contact during FDA inspections, third-party audits, and customer audits Maintain compliance with 21 CFR Part 111 (Dietary Supplement cGMP), 21 CFR Part 117 (Preventive Controls), FSMA, and applicable HACCP plans Manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions), deviations, OOS (Out of Specification) investigations, and change control Author, review, and revise SOPs, work instructions, and quality records Oversee complaint investigations, adverse event reporting, and recall readiness procedures Continuous Improvement Analyze quality trends, defect data, and non-conformances to drive root cause analysis and process improvements Manage supplier qualification program and vendor quality agreements Oversee equipment calibration, preventive maintenance scheduling, and validation/qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) Lead environmental monitoring programs, including allergen control and sanitation verification Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of progressive QA/QC experience in dietary supplement, food, pharmaceutical, or medical device manufacturing Working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 111 (Dietary Supplement cGMP) is required — this is non-negotiable for this role Demonstrated experience with FDA inspections and/or third-party certification audits Hands-on proficiency with quality lab instrumentation: FTIR, analytical balances, moisture analyzers, luminometers, environmental monitoring tools Strong understanding of HACCP principles, allergen control, and sanitation programs Experience writing and revising SOPs, batch records, and quality documentation Proven ability to lead investigations (deviations, OOS, complaints) and implement effective CAPAs Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and regulatory documentation Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in Microsoft Office Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or related scientific field ASQ certifications (CQA, CQE, CQT) or PCQI certification Prior supervisory or lead experience managing QC technicians Experience with
NSF/ANSI 173, USP
