Quality Manager Confidential Milford, CT Job Details Full-time $36.54 - $63.46 an hour Qualifications Customer communication Team leadership Supervising experience Quality control within aerospace industry Full Job Description Position Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for building, maintaining, and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent product quality, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. This role is hands-on and highly visible, requiring direct involvement in product inspections, root cause analysis, customer communication, and shop-floor problem solving. Key Responsibilities 1. Quality Management System (QMS) Ownership Develop, implement, and maintain the company's QMS (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100) Ensure documentation, procedures, and work instructions are current and followed Lead internal and always maintain audit readiness Manage document control and revision systems 2. Product Quality & Inspection Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities Establish and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and sampling methods Ensure proper use and calibration of inspection equipment (gauges, etc.) Support first piece inspections and PPAP submissions where applicable 3. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, etc.) Own corrective and preventive action process Drive closure of internal and external non-conformances Track and report quality trends and systemic issues 4. Customer & Supplier Quality Act as primary point of contact for customer quality issues and audits Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve performance 5. Continuous Improvement Identify and lead initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and defects Drive a culture of quality and accountability across the shop floor Metrics & Reporting Develop and track key quality KPIs (PPM, scrap, rework, on-time delivery impact) Provide regular reporting to leadership on quality performance Use data to drive decision-making and prioritize improvement efforts 7. Team Leadership Supervise quality inspectors and technicians Train employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices Qualifications 5-10+ years of aerospace quality experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role desirable
