Job Description

Function:
Provides strategic direction and management for the planning, developing and implementation of Institutional Services projects and the formation of an IS Quality Assurance team.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage largest and/or most complex teams within Institutional Services
  • Manage, coach and mentor Unit Managers and other assigned staff members, encouraging individual and group development. Ensure staff is kept aware of and compliant with internal and external policies and procedures.
  • In conjunction with management, lead development and implementation of process improvements to increase service, processing, profitability and regulatory compliance. Partner with management and colleagues to maintain all administrative, operational and risk management support for Unit.
  • Collaborate to implement strategic plan.
  • Manage the planning, developing and implementing of various projects and initiatives to achieve short and long-term business objectives.
  • Responsible for managing and/or participating in defining processes or developing and overseeing the implementation of procedures or controls related to compliance requirements within the overall business processes, directly or indirectly monitoring functions that, on a daily basis, ensure procedures and controls are functioning as designed, developing training for business line personnel regarding procedures and controls designed to ensure compliance with laws and/or regulations, completing or overseeing embedded compliance self-testing and/or managing examinations or audits involving regulatory matters and any resultant corrective actions.
  • Manage budget, profitability and other business reporting. Analyze variances and report to management. Make recommendations on variances and methods to increase efficiency, lower costs, etc. Implement recommendations upon management approval.
  • Define and participate in the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
  • Represent Unit or Division on Enterprise-wide projects and initiatives.
  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:

The position uses appropriate influence to inspire and guide individuals toward goal achievement and establishes and builds rapport by communicating with internal and external clients frequently. The jobholder fosters attitudes, conditions, and environments that yield improved quality and quantity to maximize performance. The position conducts analysis and monitors progress and results and takes appropriate measures and counter measures as required.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years' related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years' related experience Minimum of 2 years' managerial experience Strong customer service skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Problem resolution skills Resource management skills Strong decision-making skills
Education and Experience Preferred:
Certified Corporate Trust Specialist certification Advanced Degree Project management skills Analytical skills Demonstrated high level of proficiency in use of pertinent word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and industry-specific software Excellent Analytical skills Creative problem solving M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $153,700.00 - $256,100.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
