Full Job Description Position:
To evaluate product criteria (dimensional, functional, visual) for compliance to customer provided specifications and to assist production departments in the same activity. Responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate inspection records, calibration records and maintenance of QC dept. inspection tools, devices, as well as initiation of required corrective action reports when required. This role is responsible for preparing shipments, coordinating logistics, and ensuring all outgoing materials meet customer specifications and company requirements. To accurately ship, receive, enter, and document all incoming and outgoing materials and product. To safely operate a forklift for materials and product rotation throughout the shop. To safely drive company vehicles to pick up materials and product in the regional area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to identify raw material inventory as well as process paperwork relating to materials incoming and outgoing. Ability to load and unload trucks manually and with a forklift. Responsible to safely drive company vehicles for pick-up and delivery of products. Responsible for maintaining department paper flow (subcontract services, alpha code material, purchase order file, packing lists). Proper packaging of materials to be shipped to prevent damage. Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean shipping and receiving area as well as storage areas. Ability to interact with customers in a courteous and helpful manner. Ability to assign shipping routes to drivers. Inspect/audit manufactured products, incoming material as required, and goods going to or, returning from, subcontractors (for further processing) for compliance to the appropriate specifications. Inform the appropriate personnel of the results. Provide in-process & First Article inspections as required. Maintain necessary calibration records, schedule/conduct the periodic calibration of all inspection devices, repair or replace devices as necessary. Provide technical assistance to production for addressing non-conformance issues (Parts or Process) and formulation of appropriate corrective actions/solutions. Maintain the necessary supplies for inspection department. Maintain storage system and cataloging of fixtures and templates used for the inspection of manufactured parts. Remain flexible and provide assistance where reasonable to ensure product quality to the customer. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Manager.
Skills & Characteristics:
Experience/familiarity with sheet metal forming, welding and assembly processes and part inspection. Some experience with machining preferred. Basic understanding of mathematics including geometry and some trigonometry (figuring angles and length of sides and triangles) Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) symbols and interpretation. Drawing (blueprint) interpretation including complex drawings and multi-page formats. Preferred skills in use of basic measuring devices including, but not limited to calipers, micrometers, height gauges, tape measures, protractors, fillet gauges, radius gauges, gauge pins, gauge blocks, etc. Good people skills including communication, and constructive feedback as required.
