Traveling Quality Control Manager Stone Mountain, GA Full-TimeOn-Site$110,000 - $130,000 /yr Posted May 18, 2026 Traveling Quality Control Manager Position Overview We are seeking a Traveling Quality Control Manager to oversee and ensure quality and compliance across federal construction projects nationwide. This role is responsible for implementing and enforcing project-specific quality control plans, performing inspections and audits, coordinating with owner representatives and regulatory authorities, and leading corrective action to meet contract requirements and technical specifications. The ideal candidate has strong federal construction experience and is able to travel frequently to project sites. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain project Quality Control (QC) plans and procedures in accordance with federal contract requirements and project specifications. Conduct regular on-site inspections, tests, and audits to verify workmanship, materials, and installation meet design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Serve as the primary point of contact for quality matters on-site; coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and owner representatives (including NAVFAC, USACE, and other federal agencies) to resolve quality issues. Prepare, maintain, and submit QC documentation including daily reports, inspection records, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action plans, test reports, and quality metrics. Manage and monitor corrective actions until closure; track trends, root causes, and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence. Lead and mentor on-site QC personnel and subcontractor quality staff; provide training on quality procedures, acceptance criteria, and inspection techniques. Coordinate and support third-party and owner-conducted inspections and acceptance testing; facilitate access, documentation, and response to findings. Ensure compliance with federal safety and quality regulations and contract quality clauses; integrate safety and quality requirements into daily QC activities. Report quality performance, risks, and recommendations to project management and stakeholders; provide clear, timely, and accurate status updates. Plan and schedule frequent site visits and travel to multiple project locations nationwide to provide consistent quality oversight. Qualifications
Required:
Minimum 5 years of quality control experience on construction projects, with at least 2 years in a QCM or similar managerial QC role on federal projects.
Required:
Demonstrated experience working on federal construction contracts (Federal) and direct experience in construction execution and oversight (Construction).
Required:
Proven ability to develop and implement QC plans, write NCRs, manage corrective actions, and maintain thorough QC documentation.
Required:
Willingness and ability to travel frequently (domestic travel typically 5080% depending on project load).
Required:
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials testing, and inspection techniques.
Required:
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to coordinate with owners, inspectors, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
Experience with
NAVFAC, USACE
(Army Corps), Navy projects and familiarity with their specific contract requirements and inspection protocols.
Preferred:
Familiarity with Quality Control (QC) processes, QCM roles, and overall Quality management systems; ASQ or equivalent quality certification is a plus.
Preferred:
OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification or equivalent safety training.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Active or previous security clearance and ability to obtain site-specific access where required.
Preferred:
Proficiency with electronic quality documentation systems, inspection software, and common office tools.
