$105,000 - $135,000 annually Overview An established automotive manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to own plant-level quality performance, systems compliance, and customer-facing quality execution. This role requires more than documentation or audit coordination. The ideal candidate is someone who has personally led PPAP submissions, driven real root cause investigations, and resolved production quality issues on the shop floor . This is a working leadership role where credibility in problem-solving and technical depth in automotive quality systems is essential. The Quality Manager will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System while actively supporting daily manufacturing operations, customer concerns, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities - PPAP Ownership & Automotive Quality Execution (Critical Requirement) Independently lead end-to-end PPAP development and submission Ensure full alignment of: Process flow diagrams PFMEA Control plans Dimensional/layout results Capability studies (Cp/Cpk) Validate that PPAP documentation reflects actual production conditions, not theoretical builds Manage customer feedback, revisions, and approval cycles Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action (Hands-On Expectation) Lead and personally execute structured root cause analysis (not template-only 8Ds) Apply tools such as: 5-Why analysis Fishbone diagrams Containment validation and verification Ensure corrective actions eliminate recurrence and are sustained in production Track effectiveness of corrective actions through audits and KPI improvements Customer Quality & Escalation Management Serve as primary escalation point for internal and external quality issues Lead containment actions in real time on the production floor Manage customer complaints, 8D responses, and corrective action communication Support customer and third-party audits as needed Quality System Management (IATF-Based Environment) Maintain compliance with
IATF 16949, ISO
9001, and
ISO 14001
Lead internal audits with emphasis on meaningful corrective actions, not paperwork closure Conduct management review meetings with KPI-driven reporting and action tracking Maintain controlled documents including procedures, work instructions, and quality records Shop Floor Quality Leadership Conduct routine layered process and floor audits to verify adherence to control plans Work directly with production and engineering to resolve process variation and scrap drivers Oversee calibration and gaging systems to ensure measurement integrity Ensure standardized work is followed consistently across shifts Continuous Improvement & Performance Metrics Track and report key quality metrics including: Scrap, rework, PPM, warranty claims, and customer escapes Identify recurring failure modes and drive corrective actions at the process level Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives tied to measurable outcomes Qualifications 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing quality roles (required) Proven hands-on ownership of PPAP submissions (not just support or compilation) Strong, demonstrated experience in root cause analysis and 8D problem solving Ability to investigate and resolve shop floor quality issues in real time Working knowledge of:
IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001
APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans SPC and basic statistical process control Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data tracking and reporting Clear communication skills with ability to engage production, engineering, and customers Experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing environment required
